I like: 1. FS764 in a one piece. If it will work? 2. Look at Rogue's MBH704 or the MB704 if you want a faster tip. 3. One of my new favorites the St Croix 4S70MHM. From 3/8 up to 1 ounce this one will do it. Might be a little strained with a DD-22 but it will cast it. This blank could work for almost anything in its weight range even worms and jigs.

My wife asked me that same question a few years ago when I told her I "needed" a bunch of rod stuff and Tom's book was high on the list! All kidding aside this site, the magazine and I am sure the show are all excellent for rod builders and I continue to be surprised by the new information Tom can come up with. Most of my hobbies hit a peak after a few years, my rod building has not.

I like it for a couple of reasons besides less weight. It does help with two hand casting by giving me better feel of the rear grip area and I find when I hold a rod so that the handle us under my forearm the grip has a better fit because the cut out part is not hitting my arm like a full grip. Major advantages? No but full grips feel odd now.

Most folks also trim the threaded part of the seat to remove excess threads. The graphite arbor can be pretty rough looking sticking out of the seat but just tri

Yes, the Drop Shot would be spin and all the rest cast. And might try spiral wrapping with split grip and no foregrip. That is pretty much the "thing" for custom bass rods.

Gary, Here are some I like. 1. Jig worm - most rods companies have a good blank for this. I like a Rogue 704MHM (more moderate tip) but the 703 or 704 would work if yoy prefer a faster tip. 2. Split shot - depends on power you want. Shikari P7000 is a good light (4-6 pound line) and the P701 and P702 move uthe power scale. The 7000 has a really light tip which many say is excelle
