Hydra offers a 7'10" blank that would work perfectly for those little Bandits. It is under the "Popping 3 Power" lineup ... .
These are really nice blanks - US product, scrimless design, tournament angler supported.

This statement says "Spinning".

I don't have any issue with a Micro Wave 30/8 butt guide. I use 7mm running guides on inshore and freshwater rods. Between knots and duckweed, I just found I don't like anything smaller.

Seeker SMS75, pretty sure Billy Vivona can help you with it.

They do offer "Tidal Wave" guides which are directed at the inshore market. They aren't corrosion proof, but rather corrosion resistant. A titanium coating is used over stainless. If you want true saltwater guides, you will have to look at Fuji or Kigan solid titanium alloy frames and a 27X layout. You won't find a difference in distance between an appropriate 27X (or similar) layou

Seek the advice of a professional bass fisherman that owns a rod/blank company. Alex @ Hydra (sponsor on the left) is a great resource. US made blanks, advanced technology and very competitive pricing.

Yes, No, Fine. Microwave guides don't carry how long the rod will be. If the frame structure is adequate for the load, you are fine. I don't use them over 30# rating. From that point, I move to double foot guides.

My advice ... buy a high quality, fast action blank and build a rod that will be a pleasure to cast/own. Cheap fly blanks are terrible, most are enough to make anyone quit trying to learn.

Cheap motors ... not that long. Flexcoat motors ... a very long time. I went through a handful of the imports before buying a Flexcoat quad dryer. What a great investment. They do offer single tabletop dryers as well. On a side note, I have my wall mount quad dryer plugged into a battery backup, just in case the power company hates rod builders.

Mike is one of the greats, few are as dedicated to the craft. My prayers are with him and his family.

I use an 8'6", Fast Action, 4 weight, but anything close should offer plenty of fun.

A short Forecast glass blank, forget about the fancy high-tech stuff. That and a Zebco reel will do the trick. Use it like a slingshot. The glass blank not only gives you the right tool for the technique, but it is enjoyable and highly durable.

Yep ... want to see, touch and try it all - ICRBE is the place. After all, Candy Land

My rods are a mix of Hydra, NFC and St Croix. They are all high-quality US products. Each of them have a few blanks that aren't found in the other's lineup. Currently, I have been moving more toward Hydra. Very strong and responsive, scrimless design and at a lower price point than NFC or St Croix. I recommend choosing blanks based on the specific task.

Do you need just a little to finish a project or is it an ongoing need?

110. Re: Glue clean up?
The strongest bond comes from the thinnest amount of glue. Make your surfaces fit snugly and then use very little adhesive. The primary criteria is to not have "dry spots". Beyond that, less is more. Do this and you will find MUCH less to clean up.

112. Re: Flordia Fishing
Batson (sponsor on left) offers a nice IP845 that is a good "all around" choice for Florida fishing. This is a good "live bait" rod for freshwater bass and inshore red drum and Spanish mackerel.

113. Re: Prepping Guides
Prepping guides isn't something that I have done for the last few years. No problems in wrapping with A thread or even silk, it just takes a bit to learn an appropriate technique. After asking a few questions about the metals/finishes involved, I decided not to continue making changes to the factory finished product.

That's not my take on things ... but to each his own. Bob's description is the best posted, it can be reviewed for appropriate information.

Bingham and Picky Bastard were both using the RodMaker scale. Unfortunately, neither got enough support to continue sales. People were too willing to risk direct importation OR didn't want to pay for the domestic service (importation, grading, etc.). The only current option is to take your chances UNLESS you can find a vendor that is willing to give you a guaranteed return policy, including pa

Put it on every rod in a place they can't complain about. Decal Connection does this work for me.

Definitely the Sully. I have wrapped several hundred rods on one. They are very compact AND they are excellent wrappers. You will enjoy the hands-free tensioner and other features.
