I have a dark green fresh water blank I want to marble on the base.
The blank is the perfect color for the base of the marbeling and compliments the colors I will be marbeling. I need to know if I need to put down a base wrap to marble on or if I can marble directly on the blank (preferred).
Any input is appreciated.
Thank you,
Tom

I have a rod I am rewrapping with a Fuji graphite reel seat with gold hoods installed on rod. I want to change the color of the gold hoods to silver or something very similier. Can I mask and paint the hoods? Or mix a little epoxe with silver pigment and brush some of that on and hope it stays on place ? What would you do ? Any ideas or input is appreciated.
Thank you,

I will be starting a rod rebuild . It has a Fuji graphite reel seat with gold metal hoods. I want to change the color of the of the hoods to a different color, maybe silver or blue. I was thinking of using tinted epoxe but the hoods are at an an angle and i would have no way to control the flow. If anyone has tried this before or has any ideas I would appreciate any input.
Thanks,
Tom

After finishing my latest build I was checking it and realized I made a stupid mistake. My reel seat is off about 3-5 degrees with the guides. I know i can fish it but i want it correct. Is there any way of rotatong the reel seat slightly, maybe heat the seat to loosen the epoxe temporarily. or do I have to remove the rear hypalon, cut the seat off and replace them. Aluminum reel seat and Flex Co

I am not sure if I am violating the rules of this forum. If so feel free to handle this post accordingly.
I have many old issues of Rod Maker Magazine (51) all in perfect condition and I was wondering if there was any demand or market for these magazines.
The magazine and articles have been invaluable to me and also a great referance to me.
Thank you for any input.

Getting ready to strip down and rewrap one of my rods. The only tough part I have encountered in the past is removing the epoxe that is just past the threads where the epoxe goes from the threads onto the blank.
This is a heavy salt water rod, so there are probably three coats of epoxe is this area.I am sure there is an easier way. Any tips or recommendations are appreciated.

I use one of my old Plano tackle boxes. 3 slide out drawers with built in dividers and a large storage compartment under lift up lid.
It creates a dark and pretty dust free enviroment.

I have a couple of rods I want to put the specs on and I was wondering if anyone has tried writing on water slide decal paper or a clear address label, sealing them with Krylon, applying them to the rod and epoxeing over them. Will this work or is there a better procedure?
Any advice or input is appreciated.
Thank you,
Tom
