I finally broke down and constructed a wrapping jig more in line with the my "end product" rod quality. I give credit to Greg Pennel for the original plans and much of the insight to building this red oak, $36 jig! Yes, $36 with tax! I altered a bit of the plans to fit my needs. These included a longer base to the thread holder that puts the line a bit farther away from the

Decided to go the distance with this Irish Themed build. Customer requested a rod that would represent the Pride of Ireland...Well he got it. Green everywhere, Irish Flagged Trim Bands all the way to the tip, 10 pence coin insert in the fighting butt, gold accents in the rings, around the flags, and finished up with an anodized gold reel seat. I don't think anyone will mistake him as anything

I can't bring myself to do a simple, one color guide wrap. It is my wife's fault on this one, I gave her options and she felt this was the best looking one for the overall rod. Of course, it wasn't the easiest one!

I know it is hard to tell from the clarity of the pic, but the thread wrap goes like this: 3 wraps black, 2 wraps HT metallic pewter, 1 wrap black, 2 wraps, HT metallic silver, 2 wraps HT metallic gold, 2 wraps HT metallic silver, 1 wrap black, 2 wraps metallic pewter again, and then followed all the way up with black to finish.
