I had a few pieces left over from a hanging web and thought I'd see how they turned out. It formed a wave pattern, one that will be hard to duplicate. The lines move from both ends and just happened to end up close to where I needed them.

I wish that I could take credit for the marble work on the reel. Most of you can guess that it's one of Putters reels. I got a chance to catch up to him last August, just getting around to posting it now. The photos don't do it justice the colors just work perfectly.

I thought that I'd try another pattern from Billy's book and gave the spotlight star a try. I really like the pattern and it's on one of the new purple rods from St. Croix.

I used some dyed and stabilized spalted hickory from realseatblanks.com. It's a simple grip with out segmentation and I used a large pen blank for the real seat insert. Thread work is the spot light star.

I bought a bunch of cork about a year ago at the St Croix store on a close out. The cost of this cork was $1.00, I reshaped it and installed on one of the new purple blanks from St Croix.

I've been having some fun with a project. I cast a fly into a piece of imitation ivory. I like the results and have a couple of other prototypes in the works for a spinning rod.

I just wanted to show a finished grip, the rod shipped off to Owen in Australia a little over a week ago. Owen will do the weave next then off to Jorge for a wrap.

I thought I should include a photo of the side of the web. It gives kind of a neat scalloped look.

The World rod started as a lark, a mention on a BBS of combining the talents of myself and noted weavers; Doc Ski, Owen Dare (Australia) and the wrapping talents of Jorge Pozzobon (Brazil). The four of us thought it would be fun to see what we could do and started on this venture. The rod will be the work of builders from around the world, truly an international rod. Doc contacted Bill Batson abo

I made a new rod for my wife on one of the Mud Hole pink blanks. The pattern is from Billy's book it's the Dodge Ram 4X4. It's an interesting pattern and fun to do. My wifes still not sure about the colors, but they are growing on me.

I tried a different pattern for a change. I think it's the Ins Out- variation in Billy's book. I screwed up a little, but it was to close to cut off and start over on. I did learn some thing for the next one.

I've been playing with a different pattern. It's a variation of the petals, the wood is Big Leaf Maple Burl, Walnut and Che-Chen (sp). I mounted it on an old green St. Croix (green) Elite ES70MF.

I have a couple of different simple grips that I have completed recently. The top is burl cork with purple heart reel seat. The second down is dyed stabilized hickory with a cherry burl reel seat. The third down is a dyed black ash burl with a brick maple reel seat. The bottom is a burl cork with abilone knife scales and white oak reel seats.
