I just received a Alps fly rod skeleton reel seat from Batson's as a door prize for the Tri-State gathering on Oct 27th in IA. I couldn't help myself and turned an acrylic reel seat insert to go with the seat. The hardware is a beautiful piece and I really like the look of it.

I put together the grip and a cross wrap on a friends Sage. A diamond chevron hybrid with acrylic trim.

The EVA was cut using a miter saw and glued with conventional poly glue.

I just put the last coat of finish on this yesterday. The grip is a variegated eva material trimmed in black, the fore grip is a KDPS cut down and black eva added with a Fuji hard plastic winding check used. The variegated material is kind of unique and I like the look of it, the rod almost looks like a zebra when done. The crackle finish is a basic white and black.

Another crackle finish with copper under and bright blue on top. These are fast and fun to do.

I purchased a set of Tour Star grips from Lance at Swampland Tackle, I really like the look and feel of them. Trimmed out with a JTDS.

I added a little embellishment to the stock Batson grip set. The extension was also from the Batson catalog. Marbling was via Marco's tutorial.

I used Marco's tutorial to apply the Crackle finish on this St Croix SCIV. I like the finished product and really like the speed that it can be applied.

An off shoot from JT's Dragon Scale, I think it kind of looks like a twizzler (lol). It's part of a rebuild on one of my first builds.

A poor photo, but the grip is made with zebra wood, Purple heart and Maple in a chevron, hybrid pattern.

I'm in the process of mocking up a grip for a Batson Ultra Light IP840 and I'm looking for your opinions. It's my first attempt at segmenting EVA, and I like the out come of the grip. I'm not so sure about the reel seat; I'm wondering if it's to much black or if I should look for an acrylic with more yellow in it, some thing seems just a little off. I'm also kicking around titainium skeletons for

I had a St Croix SCIV 4S70MLF that I built into a rod and didn't like the finished product. I tore it apart and then rebuilt it with a new wrap and a built in hook keeper. I have never liked the way a hook keeper messes up a nice clean wrap and built this one into the fore grip of the rod. The wrap is I think a dancing star in blue and yellow. The cork is a burnt and natural mix with corian for t

I was fishing with a fellow NERB (Dan M) and he was watching me catch my hook on one of the guides. He asked me why I didn't have a hook keeper on my pole; I replied that I didn't have room with the way I finished my wraps. He suggested installing the hook keeper in the fore grip, this is the first attempt at building a hook keeper into the grip. I kind of like it, but think that there is a bette

A St John's Cross from Billy's book. It's a little brighter color than I usually do, but I kind of like this combo.
