Was just testing the same thing for light spinning that I use 6-10 lb braid on. Testing a 16-8-5’s I am not seeing much difference, but I am certainly not a distance caster these days. The 16 and 8 were cerecoil double foot as that is what I had on hand.
Figured I would research the wisdom before epoxy became involved
Edit: maybe not the same, was looking at using med-low casting stripper

Single rod holder, a wooden wedge, friction tape and most importantly a digital level so I can zero it on the blank

I would assume you could save as the one drive info to your desktop and add to it or cut and paste. Been a lot of years since I played with spreadsheets

I apologize, you are correct. I had been using the slim SIC guides and moved to Ti for saltwater only use. My addled brain was transposing the SIC and alconite guides.

In double foots, yes, though he was talking single foot KT/KB in which

That works fine. I don’t have any real preference between the kw10 and RV6.
The difference in price between stainless alconite and Ti torzite in the small sizes is about $2 per guide. Now in the bigger sizes…..

I had 278:76 for the CB701, probably the SM
I also have the delta, just not home to measure it

Knipex also makes a similar cutter that is very nice. This is also why I like the silicone tubing cut into slices. It cuts off with just a touch vs some of the microbands

Haven’t tried the 5, but the 4 is a nice smaller crank bait rod

You could even try #8 832 or so in open areas. It really makes a difference with lighter lures. The wind resistance kills the light stuff and any additional drag reduction helps. #8 832 is still over 16lbs breaking strength

I get stuff from them faster than I get stuff from a place 2hrs away. Incredible shipping. They are also great thoughtfully answering questions by email.

Have a look at their deflection charts, compare the SJ 765 to the SJ 804. 765 is definitely more moderate. Are you wanting faster, as that should be plenty of power?

Norm would you have data on the P703, P704 to compare with those others?
Also curious how the faster tip on SJ732 is on lighter lures vs SJ703.
Thanks

I have had good luch with most of them, if cared for. The Shimano SW Spheros is a lot of reel for the money. For smaller baits, I like the Diawa baitcasters. The Zillion is unbelievable. With bigger baits, Curado and Tranx have served me well. Even an odd Komodo SS before moving to bigger Penns. Had the worst luck with Lews bearings until upgraded

Thanks! I’ll look at the tube. The lengths of the pre made carbon grips is what has kept me from playing with them as I wanted shorter. I was surprised I liked them after trying on some fly rods.

Spencer, any specific grip you recommend? I’ve done a few flyrods with carbon grips but haven’t tried a casting or spinning yet.

There was a Japanese company, maybe Smith? I think they still make rods with them for the round reels.

I have a 7-6” Ajing rod. IP of 195 and AA of 82/3 . 2-6lb line rating and .6-10gr lure rating. Surprising backbone. Great smallmouth and trout rod.
Just an FYI regarding blank ratings. Should have referenced it earlier.

For power, with my rough measurements
P700 - 180
APFG1 - 195
CB701 - 278
APFG742 - 414
I am getting around 76 AA for everything, so need to check my batteries.
The tip is lightest on the baby APFG. Tip recovery is much better on P700. I haven’t finished the CB701 or APFG742 yet.

The rebel wee crawdads don’t cast bad. for rooster tails just use the 1/8, I’m not sure what total weight of the 1/16 is. The bfs works good, just stay away from the uber lightweight stuff. I only referenced your SB 722 as if it will toss what you want, then you know the blank range.

CB701 would be a candidate if it has enough power for you. 1/16-5/16. Tossing a 1/16 is the hard part, especially if it is not aerodynamic. If 1/16 is important, maybe a rating down to a 1/32? Maybe a NEPS78LMF or similar nfc
Will your spinning setup toss those?
I have several UL casting setups. The real light stuff is a pain. I had some yozuri pins minnows (1.8 grams) that I use with spinning

Thanks for that on the P703. I have wondered how the tips were and if they were a decent blank.

I have the APG 1, 2, and 4. Built the 1 for the misses and she likes it, but I think the 2 will be overall better and companion to Rainshadow 842. Sorry for joining the sidetrack

There was a video from a manufacturer where they flame the thread and quickly press the melted end to adhere it. I’m not near fast enough. No idea whereI saw it.

On tight line fishing, I don’t think it matters as the tip is down and you are stripping. You feel the connection with the line and the vibration to your hand. On tip up drifting, you have more mass against the tip from the suspended line, I can’t imagine there being much difference in sensitivity with a standard ring vs ceramic. Ymmv.
I have been playing with different guide configs lately. I
