Based on usage for me. Big baits or deep jigging get a longer handle. So I want to tuck it under my arm like slow pitch? Lighter baits, kayak, wearing a pfd, I want an 8-81/2 inch handle.

A bit of a pain, but, Go to their catalog and they list the pattern numbers in the first column. You just have to scroll through the pages. I never found a way to search for them. The zeros matter as they can differentiate between series (HM, IM, Delta) on the same taper.

Have the classic and Gama Alpha. Alpha is more on the moderate side and very light. Classic a touch faster, heavier and more powerful. They are both very nice casters. Can’t help with the FAF 904.

Just from an NFC perspective that I have built, the 4wt glass and 3/4 Gamma Alphas are delightful little rods. Great small stream rods. I tend to go by the snake brand chart for most of my guide sizings. 1/0 or 2/0. I just finished a 6 with 1/0 and really like the way it casts.

I’ve built a couple. Works great. Rod tip up, spiral, rod tip down traditional. Just one old fat dudes opinion. Let us know how it goes!

When sanding on the blank, do y’all use a tapered arbor? Vs a straight with tape. Or just don’t worry about it. Too nervous to try on lighter blanks without an arbor support.

Great info. My garage probably stays 80+ most of the year, lol, D2 is great in the winter, but otherwise I keep falling back to prokote as it matches my turtle like speed. Will have to give Crystal a shot. Have some G4 samples to try, just haven’t gotten there yet.

I’ve used the Fuji KB / KT Torzite and Seaguide versions on a few recent builds, (size 7 and later size 6) I don’t notice much difference from the weight. Bigger flies and coastal wind you know. Just ordered some Rec CeRecoil single foot guides for a lighter build. I was originally concerned about tip wrap, but that hasn’t proven the case. I have noticed that a lot of the Euro Nymph rods use

The SJ 803 and 804 blanks are both nice blanks with a fairly light tip. Just glued handles on a cut down 804 as well as a CB704 today. Interested to see how they both do at lighter ends.

NFC has their chart which gets you pretty close which gets you pretty close before static test. 16-10-strippers to size 2 snakes or 12-8 strippers to size 1 snakes if you like smaller guides (my preference) I like the way Cerecoil double foot strippers look. Others prefer Fuji KW style. Just a couple options to start the thought process

My best casting BFS is I think an Ajing blank. IP is mid 200 and tip is like AA82. Very fast light tip. Normally I gravitate more to the lighter CB or inshore popping. A ML CB will typically toss the Duo spearhead 50S (4.4) and also the 38. I haven’t cast the duo you listed. If you are trying to toss something like the small yo-zuri pins (1.8 grams), my advice is use a spinner. I really enj

Norm thanks again for the update and the parts matching. I bought several of the 3k soft grip to try out. I wish they had the VSS17 in soft touch as well as matching fore grips and fighting butts. The grips do feel nice. The casting are a bit on the thin side, same with the fly, probably suited best for 6 and under. Seems the new trend is the eva transition on many of the CF grips. I kno

I think the RV 6 looks pretty good on a rod. I follow with a kw 5.5 or 5. Took me a while to get over not having 3 df guides. I did notice on some SC crank bait rods, it looks like KWesque in 8 (4.2 ID) to six to the runners

I have been going smaller on the strippers of late. My last 9 was cerecoil 16-10-3-3-……. Just started wrapping a 7 with 12-8-2’s. (Maybe1’s :) ) I don’t notice any difference casting ,but my distance is also not what it once was. Curious if folks are getting breakage with recoil double feet or just the single?

My take on a small sample of same models A little slower A little heavier Possibly a bit less power, but some models show more A bit tougher I’m not sure if they all have a bit of glass or if that is just the hybrids. No info like some JDM Diawa bass rods that say “6% glass” Certainly a quality price conscious blank.

I noticed in addition to the (LMX FANY1102-4, NFC also lists an FAF 1004-4 as a Czech nymphing rod. Just started in this realm and looking to add one to my current order for a trip out west. Just looking at the NFC right now due to the multiblank discount. Thanks for any opinions
