Surf rods , that would be a huge advancement since most surf rod blanks weigh much more than they should.

I don't understand why you think that manufacturers in these industries aren't already on top of it , they're constantly testing and researching new materials and if a new material turns out to be a game changer you can bet it will eventually hit the market . There are also a ton of new materials that have already been thoroughly tested and researched that manufacturers deem unsuitable for a wid

Carl did ask specific questions and advice Lance . You can see them below .
I have just purchased a 100% graphite, 2 piece, 12' blank. I intend building it with the yesteryear large SS guides similar to Mildrum guides from years gone by. The blank will have four guides, 70m

Trust me when I tell you , NFC along with every other top blank manufacturer in the world is well aware of everything and anything that has the potential of being used in blank manufacturer , they know about it way before people in the news report on it.

Moral of the story , make absolutely certain the rod builder you choose is up to date on the latest advancements , methods and tech or you could end up with a rod that performs like a rod from the 1970's .

Please make some blanks that are at least 7'10" , I desperately need the added length for saltwater flats fishing .
I remember in a thread a few months back Tom mentioning the ultimate blank would be totally weightless and I agree . That would be amazing. This sounds like we're moving in that direction.

The nerve of those guys who fished with a long stick with a line and a hook tied to the very end, no guides needed at all. Just lower stick lift up and 'walla' , a fish .

Well of course Ben , that's the # 1 reason for making sure your guide positioning's match the natural curvature of the blank as close as possible , doing so maximizes the power the blank has to offer . Once again , how many is the question lol.

192. Re: Too many guides?
I think everybody knows full well that you always want to position guides where the blank naturally bends on it's own without being influenced by anything else . I don't think you will ever find a person who disagrees with that basic premise . It's one of the very first things you learn in rod building . That's never been an issue or something of contention , the difference in opinions is how man

I hope we aren't confusing " Will Work" or "Will be OK " with the word optimal . Sure it will be OK , heck you can use 15 guides and it would still work reasonable well .
Ben I agree with you 100% on Walmart type rods , those always have the absolute minimum guides applied . My philosophy is use as many running guides as the blank tells you it needs and each blank will

I side with Phil on this one . You don't just add more guides simply because there's room to do so , the blank itself will tell you where it needs the support and where it doesn't . The one thing I don't pay any mind to regarding the Fuji KR concept is it's recommendations on running guides and that's because the KR concept guidelines DOES NOT take into account each individual blanks flexibilit

I never used it for my first couple builds because I used thread that didn't require CP it was already treated but after a while I decided to switch to nylon thread because I wanted to see what everybody was talking about in regards to achieving the best looking wraps with the more brilliant colorings which nylon offers and that required using CP. Colors were definitely more brilliant looking as

I'm just glad we have choices and whether a persons preference is CF or FG both can be had for reasonable prices these days.
Hope you're doing well , I love your sense of humor.

C'mon lol . Ben, you make it sound like all CF rods are as stiff as broomstick handles . CF rods can be had in all actions with all types of different flexibility profiles and power ratings which are perfectly suitable for landing fish without losing them and having them jump off at the last minute.

It's Ron's first build I can understand his excitement and curiosity wanting to thoroughly analyze it . After a while you can tell if somethings off just by handling it after you take it out of the tube, no scale necessary.
Enjoy it and don't go too fast , you will be surprised how easy it is to mess things up.

I can vouch for CTS ferruling , never had a failure despite hard usage and I don't wrap the ferrules on CTS blanks.
Stephen Pratt convinced me when I questioned him about what CTS literature said in noting, (No need to wrap ferrules) he said you can wrap them if you wish but it won't make any difference you will just be adding unnecessary weight . I would say out of all the blank manufacturer

Phil , do you have any tadpole specific builds ? I could definitely use a tadpole /small frog combo type rod . Something that will quickly land large t poles and then allow me to quickly flip it over and use the frog that the t pole turns into to bass fish. I'm considering this just until your rod grip supplier eventually gives up flamenco dancing and gets back to offering guppy specific grips

Lance is 100% correct .
The "Great reset" has been in the planning for decades. Of course the mainstream media is a big part of getting people to believe IT'S NOT real but it's 100% real . All you got to do is listen to the people involved with the WEF itself to know it's real.
The “Great Reset” is a long term ideological usurpation of what’s left of individual freedom and fre
