With wraps, I see it like this. You know quality when you see it and perform it. You won't even put finish on a bad wrap you aren't happy with. Say something goes wrong with the finish when applying that you don't catch until it is dry. It is easy to remove a finished wrap. It is also a skill that will benefit you for when you repair rods.
The hardest part to your first wraps will be cleanly

This is a dream come true! I recently found out I am unable to attend the ICRBE where I was planning to acquire as many back editions with Mr. Forhan's articles.
Where and when will these publications be available for retail outside the ICRBE?
Thanks,

If it works on android then it is likely your version of Safari (apple browser) that has a compat issue.
If that link won't post here, search for this "Website won't load on safari" and look for an article called "11 simple fixes for safari..." and start at #4.

No issues here. Are you getting a DNS error? Do you have a mobile device to try from your home internet and see if you get the same issue?

187. Re: Rod Balance Q
I started a lengthy thread about this topic recently.
This was the result for me.
It is a tungsten weight gel epoxied into the butt of the rod. I tested weights by using masking tape to build up around the weights and placing them in the butt with 20lb braid tied around it so I could pull them out. Once I found the right weight I glued it in and placed the butt grip on.

Oddly enough, fluorocarbon stays on the reel better when it comes off a big spool. Even on a small reel, if you spool it correctly it will be fine. To be 100% sure run the line on the spool under hot water for a few minutes. I run straight fluoro on anything under 10lb including 4 and 6lb on ultralights with Pflueger supreme xt

It is picture perfect. I could not ask for better at my young age.
To be honest, I have left enough pens in my pocket to be banished from the laundry room for a while.

Unless the dryer has a water line and a perm-press or refresh cycle feature, you will need clothes to provide moisture. Using the dryer example we could put it in the living room with a humidifier and the fireplace running.

Please tell me more about this dryer and laundry you speak of. What are they? Where can I find them?

Having not encountered this all I can say is what I would try.
If you have a softer plastic putty knife or blade like you would use to put graphics on windows, you may be able to somewhat chisel at the edges of the epoxy. An angled wooden dowels used for cleaning under fingernails could work as well. The plastic should not penetrate and damage the aluminum as long as it is soft enough. Usuall

With your guides already selected, I would say you don't need an all in one kit. You are already good there. The builders start up kits like this one, will get you into the game at an entry level. I started from there and upgraded as my skills improved and my passion accumulated. I now run an Alps power wrapper and upgraded tools across the board. However, I still use all of the items from that

MB782 is a nice option in budget. (freshwater spin or cast)
The group can likely make better recommendations if we have more details about the purpose of the build.

199. Re: Made where?
I am not about to compile a list for someone but I can give my $0.02.
I do not mind imported goods from American allied/friendly countries. Fuji/Shimano/St Croix,Rod Geeks...to cite a few examples.
Do I wish more of it was based and made here? Yes.
Do I understand why it is not? Yes.
Do I blame the manufacturers for the anti-business policies that are set beyond their control? No.

200. Re: Made where?
Are you looking for the "Made in America" in the legal sense as defined by FTC or actually 100% of all components and labor in America?

You stand in the shallow end before you swim. A kit is similar in that the beginner who may not understand the "why" of the specs can still get quality matched components to perform the labor side. Simplifying our craft for beginners (and those who keep building by kits) is a great marketing tool for the industry as it makes things more accessible which leads to a larger sales outreach

I too started my journey with a turnkey kit from Mudhole with all the starting essentials. I was more than capable to spec everything I needed as it is the nature of my career. I chose the kit as a nice easy entry to the craft and having never built a rod from scratch I did not know if it would be something I would pursue passionately. I then progressed to only kitting the guide train in CRB elit

205. Re: guide wrap
Just preference.
I have done it both ways. Under with the crb thread tensioner and over with the Alps thread carriage. As long as the thread feeds from my side of the blank I am happy. It is easier for me personally to start wraps in that manner.

Camo bows vs raw materials with color specified pulleys and such. Painted tennis racquets and painted shafts and heads on clubs, metal bats are definitely decorated but also weight drop regulated, hockey sticks are painted and given different coatings and ar

Make sure you have the bubble wrap out past the the tip so the tip doesn't hit the end cap of the tube. I learned the hard way on a rod I shipped to myself for a trip.

The library button on the top bar has useful information on static guide placement for runners.

It is always tough stocking so many sizes, styles, brands, etc of guides. I know it gets said a lot but the custom part of custom rod building is not limited to the build itself but extends to your practices. The way we handle our practices will always vary.
Personally I only keep stock for new builds because I know what I will be working with. On rebuilds or repairs I choose to buy needed com

Thanks everyone.
I called a local place and they mentioned a 4 piece 5 wt between 8" and 9" being a good versatile rod for the area.
