One thing to consider is the actual weight of the finished rod. The SWB is an excellent blank for many purposes, but it's weight alone is 11 ounces. The REVC72H is much lighter (3.1 ounces) and will be easier to handle for any length of time. We show both in stock.

You might want to comsider the Batson RX6 Graphite blanks. A little more moderate than the RX7 and RX8, but still light and responsive. We have the earlier Blue finish on sale. Here is a link;

I like to glue up the rings, then ream, and then shape. If there is a mistake to be made, let it be before mounting.

keep in mind that it will follow the contour of whatever it is covering. That said, you can shape the original grip to something you like better. I did a wide "X" wind of cord on a rear grip, and sanded "flats" on 2 sides of a front grip for another .

I have used the Batson "RCLB70L" for that. Also, the all E-Glass "GCB70MH", but it is a little lighter in power. Here is a link; And always wrapped in "Turnover" style.

Consider using an "underspin" closed face reel. You can then use a fly style grip, mount the reel seat all the way back, and maybe a metal fighting butt or weighted butt cap to help the balance. You can then downsize the guides to something like 12 butt, with size 6 or smaller on out. If you are using a slip-bobber set up you will probably want to use nothing smaller than 5's or 6'

I have replaced the front EVA by "slitting" the new grip, making sure it is very close to the size of the blank. After cleaning off all the old residue, measure the OD. It may be easier to use a grip with a larger ID and just build up the blank with bands of masking tape. A little "snug" works best. Using a liquid epoxy like Flex Coat on the blank, but contact cement on

I would try wrapping first, then a thin coat of epoxy, ahead and behind of where it is separating. Sounds like it has been damaged, so be aware that it might fail anyway.

I have been using longer 8' + rods for years. An example is a while ago I was cruising down the lake with a friend when a school of Hybrid Stripers exploded ahead of us. I idled down and then quietly got as close as I dare so as not to put them down. He had his trusty 7', I had my 8', both spin rods. Casting the identical lures and lines, he was barely able to get to the edge of the school,

A method that works for us is simply sharpen the handle end of a finish brush in a pencil sharpener. Then, with the rod stationary and guides facing away, put a drop with the sharpened end on all the tunnel ends. Works on both 1 or 2 foot guides. Turn the rod 180 and do it on the other side. You can also then use that sharp end to "lead" finish around to the back side of the guide.

Mike, Take the dowel and wrap it with tape to the "male" section, then with a band of tape on the upper end that goes into the "female" section, you then have paper tape insulating both sides of each ferrule from epoxy intrusion. You can do that to attach as many sections as you have into just one unit to then be turned and finished.

I would wait until it is almost done curing. Another tactic if you want to be really safe, is to tape a short piece of a surplus blank, or even part of a dowel rod small enough to fit inside the ferrule, with a bit of masking tape around the part that goes inside, and attached to the OD of the other half in the same way. Then there is very little chance of epoxy getting on either ferrule

While that might help slightly while stripping line, it may add to the wear on the line if fighting a fish or while simply reeling in the line. And, once it leaves the stripper, it has to go back to the 180 for the rest of the guides. I tend to go up on the stripper guide size to help with both.

While casting is an important aspect of light tackle fishing, the extra "cushion" of a softer action blank helps keep large fish from breaking off on a fast head shake or quick run. There is a trade off as to how long it takes to land that fish, releasing some after a long fight may not be a good idea.

I don't know about stopping them in a minute or two, but we have caught lots of Lake Norfork Stripers on 6# test using either very soft glass rods or longer 5-6-7 wt fly blanks. Usually made up for level wind reels to minimize line twist. Back in the day I landed a Striper just under 20# on an 8 &1/2' 6wt made as a spinner while fishing for Crappie. Not the kind of rod that allows for rele

At one time Fuji made both "collet style" and "glue-in style" The collet style actually had a couple of different styles and sizes on the chuck end.

We show one left of the earlier RX7 Rainshadow popping, 8', 1 pc, IP965. That whole series has been popular for a variety of uses, both casting and spinning. Anytime a slightly more moderate action with good backbone is wanted. The IP965 has a suggested weight range of 3/8-1&1/4 oz Here is a link;

Consider some accounting software like "Quickbooks". If you get started on the right track, it is much easier down the road. No matter what, keep some kind of record of orders placed and received, and parts sold/installed. And "build/repair" forms to help keep track. There is info like that available on this site, just do a search. Things like tip tops in a divided and

And remember, if you wet the wrap with alcohol, it will mimic the look of finish having been applied. Don't like it, just wipe off and remove thread.
