If it is by US Postal Service, expect it to take a while for the claim to be resolved, maybe months. Ask your customer to double check at his local Post Office. We've had it happen that it ended up being "undelivered" due to no-one to accept it, and other reasons know only to the post Office. If you did not include the customer name and address on a note INSIDE the tube, keep that

In the past I had made some rods with a removeable rear section using a metal ferrule set. The female ferrule was epoxied part way over the end of the main blank and covered by the original rear grip section, the extension section of scrap blank with grip material epoxied to the male ferrule. To make a "plug" for the rod end when not using the extension, use anther ferrule set to mak

We have done many like that, using "Match" guides for the first 2 or 3 up from the butt, then 1 regular spin guide, then low frame fly guides with inserts to the end. Here is one setup suggestion, Batson BMLG size 16, 12, 10, BVSLG 10, then Fly sz 08, 07, and 6's to finish out. For heavier spin rods, or those that might take a beating, the new Batson "V3" for the first 3 fr

Hello Pavel, We ship US Postal, the least expensive way I know of. It is still expensive, the best way is to try and combine an order with others in your area. The shipping tube itself is the heaviest and most expensive part of the shipment, so several blanks can be shipped for not much more than just one. A cosideration is the length of the blanks, since 60" seems to be the max length

Hi Mike, All that you say should work just fine. On the butt end, the epoxy and cork dust will work, but you may want to try something else. Try a colored 1/4" bead with the holes to the side so they do not show. I've used various colors, sometimes matching thread color, other times a Gold, Silver, or Pearl, which looks like a jewel is set in there.

We use the Batson Forecast Glass Saltwater blanks, either the SWB70-L or SWB70-ML. These are very durable, have a moderate action with good back-bone. They are popular in this area for downrigger trolling or live bait rigging for landlocked Striped Bass, using 12 to 15 Lb line, fish up to 30#. Here is a link;

Some of our customers are making split grips with 2 or 2/12 '' foregrips in front of and behind the reel seat, then a 2'" or Batson RB50 cork fighting butt for the bottom end. Here is a link;

I suggest you ream out the grip to fit from the back end up, after it is sized, wrap some heavy thread to make up the difference where the front of the grip comes to rest on the blank. A heavy dose of epoxy should also help fill any voids. Hope this helps,

Here is another thought on replacing a foam fore grip. Slice it the whole length, protect the reel seat with masking tape to take care of any epoxy seepage. Then install the grip above the area where it will go, epoxy the "home" area, slide the grip down and epoxy lightly the actual seam of the grip after it is positioned. Squeeze tight and wipe off as much seepage as posible, then

We use the Flex Coat "Guide Glue", which is a low temp glue stick. With a cig lighter and stick of that at the work bench I find them the easiest to use, it also allows for repositioning later, and gives a small amount of cushioning under the guide foot. Just hold the smaller guides with a thin nose pliers, heat the guide foot for a few seconds with the lighter, then dab on glue to t

Had one come in yesterday, an UL 7' spin rod broken between the foregrip and butt guide. The footprint was still faintly visible in the 12" area that was "shattered". At least he didn't claim a fish broke it.

Be sure to check any shipping restrictions, such as length, before you ever start. Airmail Parcel Post is the most economical way to ship, but there may be length limits. Also, suggest payment in full via bank transfer. Ask your bank how that will work, there is usually a fee to you for doing that. We now ask for Pay Pal, and that gets credited to us within a few hours of their payment. Make

If they are very shallow, you might try spraying some WD-40 and then wiping down. It's worked for me in the past, helps spiff up a guide replace job too, just spray blank and wraps when done, then wipe down.

We have done as Tom suggests, without machinery. However, for me, it is better to use a large flat file to get down close to dimension rather quickly, then finish with sandpaper on a block. I can be fairly steady for the first few 'swipes", then it becomes easier to "wobble". Finishing with 100, then 220 (or finer) puts a smooth finish without taking very much off. I would als

You may want to reconsider that type of foregrip for strong fighting fish. We have repaired some over the years that failed when putting pressure on while working a big fish. For lighter duty rods they seem to be fine.

Just to try and clear things up, we are dealers of books that are suppied by Angler's Book Supply. I had requests for the Custom Rod Thread Art by Dale Clemens and had called yesterday to try and get more. I was told then that they were out of stock and out of print, which is the information I passed along to our customers. I just got off the phone with Angler's Book Supply again and verified
