Some more thoughts.
We have a hardwood "push" board about 16" x 3" x 1/2" with 3 holes bored in it for various size blanks.
On the wall there is a mounted hardwood board 5" x 5" x 1/2" to push against.
We do the same "drop" and mark the place on the blank where the grips stops going down on it's own.
Then a 2" band of epoxy above that po

Hi Darren,
We carry both the Sevier Tiger Eye blanks, and also the full line of Batson products.
We show those 10' blanks in both brands to be in stock.
Here are some links;
Using a 4 pc blank over a 2 pc gives you easier transport, and in some cases a very slightly stiffer action.
Hope this helps,

934. Re: Shippin Charges
I support what Tom says.
If you built enough profit into small items to cover the handling, the prices would be outrageous.
By the same token, shipping just one rod blank costs almost as much as shipping ten.
So to get the best prices on items, the shipping and handling has to give some kind of minimum profit.
How much profit would you think there is in a tip top that sells for $ 1.19?

Hi Greg,
CUI makes both EVA and Cork for their special seats. We have them in stock, but they are about 1/4" shorter than the Fuji.
If all else fails, maybe trim the open end of the Fuji Quicklock?

We have in the past made some very light Crappie rods with a 5" UL Fibreglass blank for the tip section, and a butt section from a light graphite fly rod blank.
After trimming, the glass tip fit as a "tip over butt" ferrule, overalll length was 8', it made a very nice rod for fishing light line and live bait as a "down rod" The tip was very soft, so the fish would not fe

Hi Ray,
In my opinion the ISP843 will be easier to cast.
It is a "Moderate/Fast" action, and loads farther into the blank, for me that is an easier rod to load.
The X-Fast "HS" series is a little trickier, your timing needs be right on.
Years ago we did some ameteur Tounament casting, and the more moderate blanks made for easier loading, especially on long casts.

I've used Penn "SS" spin reels in several sizes in both fresh and saltwater over the years, they are rock solid, smooth, dependable, and hard to beat over the long haul.
We do not sell reels, this is just a user recomendation.

We have been using a "Turnover" (spiral Wrapped) trolling or casting rod in our fishing seminars for years.
Sometimes it will be in a downrigger, other times just in an angled rod holder.
The main thing is that people can see there is no "gimbal" or anything else keeping the rod in it's "reel up" stance while under pressure.
What make the demo so easy is we just

Allow me to chime in with a slightly softer blank like the Batson Rainshadow IP902 or 903.
That will allow an easier "lob" when throwing live bait, give the extra length needed, and still have some backbone to handle larger fish.

The spin cast reels sound like a good idea for kids.
I'd use casting guides, go 1 ft towards the tip to keep it light, unless you expect them to be rough on the rods, then 2 foot might be a little more durable.
Spacing might be a little closer if you are wrapping conventional, a "turnover" wrap would work better.
Hope this helps,

I echo Dave's thought, except we like to use a larger stripper guide, at least a 16, sometimes a 20 or 25, especially on a trolling rod.
it seems to help that transition, and definetly helps when fighting a big fish to help keep the line up off the front grip and/or your hand.
Also, on a casting rod, why not go to even smaller and lighter 1 foot guides, especially towards the tip? once the li

We have built several "noodle" rods, and the present 2# test IGFA World Line Class record for Striped BAss is held by Bill Fitzgerald on a rod we built.
Since we are using live bait, the rods are never cast, and they are now all built as "conventional" (level wind reels) with a turn-over wrap.
If you are serious about big fish on light line, the best guides are SIC or Tich

Bill,
I have good luck using the one side slice method, with the addition of wrapping the OD tightly with black plastic electrician's tape.
Just be carefull not to use too much epoxy, we use Flex Coat.
Also, the ID should not be any larger than the blank OD at that point, and a little under is better.
After it is set up, remove the tape and a little sanding with med grit "screen" u
