I have some ugly Stik 10' 2pc blanks and the butt has a blank number on it but no weight class or Lure weight . Is there any way that it can be tested to get this info. I call Shakespeare and all they could tell me is it is most likely to be from the 80s. Thanks for your feedback. Dennis

Well I worked at a Tackle shop that built and repaired Rods he would install the guides and put one coat of Pro Kote over thread work decals. Let it turn overnight on dryer them come back next day and brush on pro Kote on Rod from fore grip to tip top as it's turning use a little heat and let it turn on dryer again. I don't know if it is right or wrong. I know it adds weight other then that I don

Thanks Lance I wrap my guides and then apply thread finish let turn on dryer overnight, then come back and glaze the complete Rod. This seems to work for me. Actually I should say That was how I was taught. Don't know if it is right or wrong. I been using a lot of the Rainshadow swb eGlass blanks which seem to work well for a reasonable price blank. So I will use the Alps 316 guides for now

I gone to build a Rainshadow SWB70L 8/15lb Spinning Rod and don't know which guides to use. Was looking at the Alps XPBVDLG and the Fuji BNOG.I would like some feedback on theses guides. Fuji is half the price of the Alps and they are both aluminum oxide . So a little confused Thanks Dennis

Thank you Lynn I just don't want to buy 3to5 thousand dollars in Guides if I am not able to use or sell some of them. Also Has foul proof or recoil guides in picture. Just don't know the difference between the two. The picture shows them and they are shiny not dull looking. And didn't know if they are still in demand. And he said he had some Harnell blanks never heard of them either. Thanks aga

Tom thank you once again for your valuable Information.
I think I will have to purchase some of the recoil guides. I buy a lot of Rainshadow SWB blanks I guessing The guide Spacing for recoil guides are the same as the Fuji or Alps guides. I do my guide Spacing layout according to Batsons guide Spacing blueprints. You been a big help once again Thank You.

Thank you Tom, do people still build with recoil guides? Do they hold any value, I see them on Mudhole and Getbits and they are pretty pricey.
And do you know anything about Harnell Rod blanks I think that is how it was pronounced.

I had six inches of airbrush work done on four Rods just above top grip. Acrylic water-based paint was used and now I'm having problems with the paint bleeding when I put the UL-40 supreme on. Is something I can use to stop the bleeding before I use the UL-40 supreme . Thanks
