David Great work on the build. There are certainly more than one way to build with the XO Grips. With Edge, we are releasing a series of rods on the XO grips, with all of them (both spinning and casting) glued in only about 2.5 to 3 inches. We have had them in our pro-staff hands for over a year, fishing for Salmon (twitching) to bass, to bull reds - without any issues. I personally hav

Daryl, I’ve looked at ALL of our order history (since our company has been selling blanks) as well as any emails for help/support/warranty. We have never done business with you. You made a similar comment on Facebook, but also stated that the reason why you have never made a purchase is because of the reviews you have read. You are now saying that there are “too many vendors of the sa

@ David - We made them to solve an issue that we were having with the Edge “Epitome” line - which was shaving as much weight as possible anywhere/everywhere and still finding that there was 1/2oz of dead weight in the reel-seat. It’s a different strokes for different folks for sure - will we use it on every rod in the Epitome line, even if we have to use an insert on smaller diameter blanks -

Norm, The casting reel seat is best used with a14.5 or a 15mm blank, that has a very slight taper. Like the C6O2 blanks, travel blanks, or the point blanks. If you are trying to use them with a smaller diameter blank - you would need an insert. Best, Aleks   Norman Miller Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > How are the casting reel seats installed?

Kevin, No insert required, but if the blank has a very aggressive taper, you may have some unwanted space at the sides. It will take a Fuji, American Tackle, SeaGuide , ALPS (the one channel type, they also have a two channel type) and PacBay. Size 16 locking nut. Yep, we will be at ICRBE, and will have them there. Robert, Yes, you can - we in fact cut them for the Edge Epitome Rods. Not to save weight, but primarily not to have threads "poking" out of the locking nut. Best, Aleks   Robert A. Perhaps some of the lightest currently made. Casting Reel Seats weigh in at 9.74grams, and Spinning at 12.04grams. More information available at the link below. Thanks for looking - Aleks

Hi Everyone, I’m thrilled to announce that the biggest Facebook Group dedicated to the craft of rod building is now a part of the Rodbuilding.org community. Many of you are already on there, and acquiring the group was a natural fit, and combining this forum and the Facebook group makes Rodbuilding.org the largest group dedicated to our craft with over 50,000 users. Over the next two weeks, you

I know there are a lot of questions - and answers are forthcoming. For now - which do you prefer? A rounded ring frame design or classic? For those that commented on the guide foot, those are easy (easiest?) to adjust. Aleks

Brian, The CB7115 would absolutely work. We are going to introduce two dedicated blanks specifically for dragging bottom walkers (one lighter, one heavier) within the next week or so. (We are actually working on building up some inventory, because we know it will be a popular offering) If you are on our mailing list, you will get that launch email - if not, I can post on this thread once

Peter, I don’t believe that I said TNF has no correlation with sensitivity. In fact, I was very careful not to say that. I even provided at least 6 variables that affect the latter, recovery/TNF of which can be one. What I stated, is that I don’t believe it’s correct to say that because a blank has a higher TNF, it will be more sensitive than a blank with a lower TNF, and showed that via an

Michael, “ Based on the apparent reluctance of the challenger to provide data, I don't expect any data will be forthcoming. Which leaves me with the same opinion I had two months ago, that TNF is an emulator, an indicator, of sensitivity. It unquestionably is a direct measure of recovery speed, and has shown that the higher priced, higher modulus blanks, have higher natural frequencies than si

Norm, Two thoughts: One of the primary points of TNF is that the higher the TNF number, faster the recovery, the more “sensitive” a blank is. Then the connection is made that higher Modulus blanks have a higher TNF, and ergo they must be more sensitive. There is no statement that the blanks must be the same Modulus for this to be true, or the same action, or even made out the same materi

Michael, In terms of Geometry of the blanks - yes, they are different, one is a small diameter, thicker wall blank, the other a larger diameter, thinner wall. (I have mentioned a number of these before in the main post - a number of factors affect the "sensitivity" of a blank, geometry being one of them. The reason why those blanks were chosen, was to showcase the vast difference

Dear All, Thank you for your patience - In light of the robust discussion above, I wanted to have a way to describe our findings at NFC, but with the ability to be repeated at home - one of the reasons why I can get behind ERN/CSS is that you can replicate it with relative ease, and fairly low cost. (For example, you can invest in a Fluke Vibration meter, as we have if you are doing this repea

Dominic, I would actually recommend the HS822 or the 821 Just note that the lure rating on those blanks is for a big plug, and is meant not to cast it but to slowly let it out behind the boat. If you are casting, the upper range is about an ounce and a half. Best, Aleks

Steve, The SA1065s are herring + lead ball trolling blanks, but not recommend for Down Rigger applications. (They are almost fully loaded with the Down Rigger ball clipped on, so when the fish hits your lure, that will take them past the breaking point. If you want the durability of e-glass, but the lightness of carbon, you need to look at some hybrids. In the case of NFC the 360 pros, they ar

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Al Jackson one of our engineers. AJ was one the worlds foremost composite engineers, consulting for the US military, a renowned golf shaft designer, a rod and blank designed for Lews, G.Loomis, and many others prior to his last 10 year tenure at Edge Rods and North Fork Composites. Those that knew AJ on a personal level, knew him as a mad scie

Al, Completely normal - that "mesh" in the inside of the blank is a part of the release fabric for the pull tab, we usually get them with tweezers, but sometime they are persistent. Enjoy your blank! Hi Everyone, 14.5 and 15.5 are the total length of the grip + reel seat. Lynn, There is a lot you can do. If the blank diameter is about 13.5-14.5mm you don't need an arbor. Add glue to the last three inches of the blank, and insert it just past the reel seat area. If the blank diameter is small enough, you can insert it all the way to the butt of the grip, anchor it in the EVA ca
