You can cut the trigger section off of an older Fuji fps reel seat. A wooden insert and new threaded barrel can then be used.

FWIW, I built a fly rod for drift fishing using ceramic guides and I used more guides than normal. It casts fine, but it really excels at feeding out extra line when needed to get a very long drift. I just need to flick/wiggle the tip and the extra ceramic guides help feed more line onto the water. The line doesn't sag and it slides effortlessly along the rod length. It's fun to see how long

I've got some 3/4" aluminum pipe to make spinning handle extensions for some shooter blanks. I haven't done this type of grip in a long while. Anyone know if size 18mm Fuji NPS spinning reel seats will fit snugly over 3/4" pipe? Or, would I need to order 20mm seats?

Check the directory link at the top of the forum. There is one Mainer in the directory and a fly rod builder - email/call them as they know about Maine options.

If I am using color preserver - I leave the springy metallic tags long on nail knot trim bands, snug them up against the wrap and apply color preserver. Once it dries hard, I use a very sharp razor blade and trim the hardened tags close. The hardened color preserver keeps even the narrowest nail knot band from unravelling. This works for me and provides a clean look.

Hi all - Question for those who make carbon fiber grips.
Would it be possible to make a maniform fly grip using a carefully sanded foam blank and a carbon fiber sleeve? I suppose you would have to overwrap the sleeve with celophane tape (similar to blank construction) to get the sleeve to conform to the foam blank while the epoxy dries.
Here's a link to a maniform cork grip overview:

Hi Mo, if you have a drill press, you can turn it into a vertical lathe for cork. I have a grizzly hobby lathe with a ryobi drill mounted to a board with a handle and love it:
With that said, I'm getting a drill press this winter and most likely will get this type of vertical lathe attachment for the dozen or so cork handles I turn each year: . Just have to figure out which vacuum head a
