I am looking for a picture of a closed cross-wrap made with just one color combo of variegated thread. I remember seeing one a while back at a show, online or in a book and liked it. It was a tri-color thread and it had a nice southwestern look to it. If anyone is aware of a pic of either two-color or multi-color variegated thread cross-wrap, please post a link to the image. Want to see it ag

I have a bunch of unlabeled fly lines that I need to measure in order to get an idea of their line weight. Was there an article in RodMaker Magazine that showed how to use the Common Cents system to do this? If so, does anyone know which issue it was in? Thanks in advance! Ladd

Thank you Jim! I have some fly rods with polished guides and downlocking DPSM16 reel seats where this hood would look great. Are these available through any US vendors? I did a google search on DPSM16P/ASH and didn't find much.

An Ultra Poly color wheel is the way to go - it's what I would expect from Fuji. Here's an example from our photo page :

The spring fishing catalogs are arriving and the outdoor magazines are thick with advertisements. Lots of new marketing terms this year to describe rod materials, construction techniques, and enhancements. Here is a quick vid to prep your brain for the onslaught. Enjoy::

Glad they are back. I like their site feature that states if an item is "in stock" or "out of stock" when ordering.

Are these prices correct? These Airwave guide sets are under $11? If so...nice value.

Went to a turning demonstration the other day. The demo was how they turned during the late 1700's using a pole lathe. Using maple firewood, chair legs were turned that were not too dissimilar from grips/reel seats. Took about 10 minutes per leg. Here are the pics:

Thanks Rick. This is informative - andI I earned a new word: Intrados
FWIT, I've begun using size 3 guides based on many past board discussions. It's the goldiocks size - small enough to achieve meaningful weight reduction, wraps aren't too difficult to manage, and I can thread them with the naked eye. I understand your needs to manage invientory and I suppose 3.5s work fine, too. 3s wo

To me, making visible seams by tinting the epoxy or incorporating cork or thin automotive gasket materials won't add too much weight can be visually appealing.

Has anyone had a chance to check out this rod?
The rod features two tip sections of scrimless high tenacity semi-crystaline copolymer thermoresins formed for reduced weight, high density strength, and fast reaction on the nano level. The blanks used feature unique agressive tapers formed under high pressure and are the lightest blanks utilzed by a rod manufacturer. Boasting a satin white fin

With all the new blanks coming on the market, has anyone come across one that is comparable to the old Loomis SJ700GL3 blank? I've been slider fishing with the lightest MHX shooter and SJ blanks, but looking for something with a little softer tip. Thanks in advance for any insight.

Phil, the MHX Mag Taper two-piece bass blanks are very nice. A 7' rod will safely fit in the back seat of a small sedan.

Very helpful - especially the insight into the KB belly guide. It'd be great if you could mark up some of your rod nomenclature diagrams and mark which K and RV guide goes where...
Thanks Jim.

Here's a link that shows how the guide is designed, made and bent. The images may help in showing where to grasp the guide for bending:
BTW, this design was a paradigm shift for our craft.

Hi George, Bingham carries CUI products and CUI shows Kork-a-Lon in up to 11" lengths on their site. If Ron and Roger don't have what you seek, perhaps Karen can have some drop-shipped to you from CUI? The link to Karen's CUI page is here:
