I am looking for a picture of a closed cross-wrap made with just one color combo of variegated thread. I remember seeing one a while back at a show, online or in a book and liked it. Went to a turning demonstration the other day. The demo was how they turned during the late 1700's using a pole lathe. Using maple firewood, chair legs were turned that were not too dissimilar from grips/reel seats. Took about 10 minutes per leg. Here are the pics: Old school.
