31. Jig Rod
Looking to build an acid wrap jigging rod . Havent built one before so im taking suggestions on blank/length/guides. Ill be on a private boat with just me and another guy. Will probably be in the 100-150ft max depth. Should handle 5-10oz jigs. I really have no idea on the ideal length, but my brain says 6ft or so? Was thinking the Rainshadow RCKJB600-210, But wanted to get some suggestions. Light

That P704 looks like a great all around blank. My next build may be on that bad boy.

Funny you asked this Ernie. I just built myself a rod for similar fishing and has allready landed walleye and sm bass. Check out the Liberty Blanks at Getbit. Made in the USA, lifetime warranty, and a great price. I used the P703-USA blank.

So i have a few trips under my belt with my new 7' rod using the Liberty P703-USA blank. I have to say I am very impressed with the strength, weight, and how straight this blank is. Couple those aspects with the price, made in the USA, and a lifetime warranty.. I can see many more builds with these in the future. I have used it on the CT river and lakes chasing Walleye, Pike, and Bass tossing

Another option is to look at the web site high end rod companies like ST Croix. They show the handle measurements for each series.

I will remember it for future builds. For this rod, i hope it doesnt create any issues. Only time, and fish, will tell.

I hope the sanding doesnt prove to be an issue. It was very minimal to get the tip tip on there.

This was my first build using the Liberty blank. I only had two minor complaints. One being that the weight was more than the specs stated. The spec said 1.6oz and it weighed in at 1.8oz (13% difference). The other issue was either the tip was slightly larger than specified, or the tip top was smaller than specified. The blank tip was the exact same size as the OD tip top, and not the same as the

Just finished my first spinning build. I kept it simple being my first one. I went with a High Modulus Carbon 7ft Liberty blank, Med Power, Fast Action, rated for 1/4-5/8oz. Opted for the split grip design and the Fuji SK2 reel seat. The guides i used are the Fuji KR Concept Alconite guides. The idea behind this build is for a very light weight rod I can use for shore fishing and from the boat

Got my blank today. That came in fast, especially for free shipping (2days). The blank looks great. Nice and straight and no blemishes that i can see. My only complaint is the weight. The weight listed on the site said 1.6oz. I tried on two different scales and both came out to 1.8oz (13% heavier than advertised). Not a huge deal i know, but worth mentioning.

I dont know how you guys are able to cast with those micro guides taped on. I can barely keep them in place when trying to wrap, nevermind casting lol

What sizes do you guys suggest for the guide train using the minima guides. 7ft rod using a 2000/2500 sized reel.

Hi Robert, Check out some of the other manufacturers on mudhole/getbitoutdoors. Their CBR rods and the MXH rods are very nice and affordable. Makes botching up a build much easier on the wallet. Also keep an eye out for free shipping. Otherwise you'll be looking at about 25$ in shipping fees. Which is very much a deal breaker for alot of people.

Just curious what you guys think of these blanks? I saw an earlier post about them but there hasnt been any updates in a while. I just picked up the P703 . Im hoping sum1 here has built on this blank and can let me know how it handles the weight range its rated for. I plan to use if for soft plastics and 5/8oz Topwater Jitterbugs for bass up to 6+lbs.

Getbitoutdoors is doing free shipping, im looking at their Liberty P703-USA blank Anyone familiar with it? Also anyone use the SK2 reel seat with no grip before or after the reel seat? Would essentially be a split grip setup with no grip before or after the seat. Nor sure how that would feel in hand?
