Hi all,
As this is my first spinning rod build i just wanted to get your opinions on how this looks After the 4 reduction train guides, there are 6 running guides 4.25in apart to the tip top. Please let me know what you think [i247.photobucket.com] Re: Guide Layout

It looks mostly okay, but the question is, how does it cast? Do you feel like it's doing the job you want it to do?

I'm still new to rod building, and have only built 2 spinning rods, so I may not be completely correct here .... but I let static load place the running guides for me. I've never had that many guides be evenly spaced on any rod I've built thus far. 2 or 3 maybe, but not 6.
And I personally will add a running guide or two if need be, to insure that the line follows the curve of the blank nicely. Re: Guide Layout

RodMaker had an article on evenly spaced running guides a couple years ago, so it's not a wild idea. The line path through the running guides looks pretty good, from what I can see of it. Not sure why 4 reduction guides; 3 should do and save weight and money. I've done rods with two that work well. If you can achieve the "bullseye" line path, 3 should work fine. Look at either the hard copy or on-line Fuji catalog for how they do it with KLH. Principle is sound for any guide, I believe. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
