The Visual Wrap measurements are for the centers of each pattern. From there, you need to figure out how many passes you will be wrapping, and space out accordingly. 1mm equals 4.1 Madiera threads when packed (thanks for that one Billy) Also, in the back of Billy's book there are spacing charts for each wrap that help out tremendously.

I'd have to say my dad for getting me into building rods. Then Billy and Mike Joyce for getting me into thread art and also taking the time to show me and others how it's done. Also Paul, Al and the other NERBS I've gotten to know over the past couple of years. And last but not least, Sparky!

The plus 1 on the black box will give you the long curved arms like the Spaced Star with a Flare. Sometimes the patterns don't look right until it's all packed and finished, then you'll see it.

I use Flexcoat CP on Madiera thread. I doesn't seem to darken too much for me to worry about it. Two heavy coats and Afcoat over it.

It seems to work fine with guides. I use two coats of Flexcoat CP on dec. wraps and one coat on guide wraps. The colors will definitly bleed without enough CP, the lighter colors more than the darker ones.

Count me in Billy. This gives me an excuse to get back out in the garage.

For under 2 oz., I use a Lami MB1083 Works great for light lures and is perfect for pencil poppers.

The only problem with using Flex Coat to finish a blank, is that after being in the sun for a long time, the finish will turn yellow. I used a paint that is used for painting lexan RC car bodies and then Permaglos over the paint and it came out great.

Since I wrapped a rod. I've been way to busy with work and with me and the wife expecting a baby girl in August. I just went out to the garage and started laying out a wrap and almost forgot what I was doing. The butt wrap goes on the tip right...lol

If you want bright neon pink, look at the Parma line of paints for RC car bodies. They have a neon pink that I used, and the paint came out great. Hobby stores should have it.

I've been using Flexcoat CP over Madiera and haven't had any problems yet. I put 2-3 coats on and then finish.

I really like that paint. I just finished repainting a swimming plug with it. My favorite is the green to gold

I've had a great time so far this year learning alot and sharing some of what I've picked up. Nothing beats the comment by the mate on the Fluke trip when he saw all of Billy's rods, "All I see is crooked guides and braided line" So far it doesn't look like I'll be in Charlotte but I hope to be at Mike's house in Jan and definitly at Billy's Maybe some of us can get together arou
