Thx Bill, that may also be part of my problems as I used the reg finish not the lite and also mixed for a good 5-6 min on my mixer as I wanted to be sure it was mixed well enough after reading all the horror stories of finish that wouldnt harden.

Awesome........ thanks to all for taking the time to reply, its been very helpful.
I wondered it was an aesthetics issue or if there was a structural issue surrounding its use.
My fear was it would some how weaken the bond of the epoxy from some of the things I have read but if thats not an issue it time to wrap some up and see what I like.

Sorry if its been answered but my searches have yet to show any threads that describe why people say not to use it
Why does it have a bad wrap (pun intended) LOL
What does it do that makes people not want to use it other than help maintain thread color?
Is it simply aesthetics or does it some how mechanically affect the bond of the epoxy?

I use a few of their old Fenglass 1262 and they are absolutely my favourite.
For me one of the most important attributes of a mooching rod ( the way we use them) is a long soft action, that way with 1oz weight the rod will have a nice full arch and you can see your herring pulling to escape attack from the salmon.

71. spiral wrap
Newbee question but cant find the answer in my searches........will a spiral wrap limit the casting distance over the conventional guide wrap on a casting rod?
Never seem to see the spiral wrap on lighter casting rods is there a reason for this?
