On a purchase of a 9', 5 wt, 4 section flyrod blank discovered it had a split end in the second section nearest the
butt (handle/reelseat section). It was in the female end of the section, a split of about .28 inches (or 7.17 mm).
Question: will an extra long thread wrap solve the problem? Afraid to apply glue before hand because fear it
could leach into interior of blank and resist male

Thomas: Thanks for the tip... but do I need to change the other distances between other guides to account for some changes on this end of ferrule wrap?
And would you do as Ron Weber suggests and wrap 1/4 to 3/8 from end of ferrule before wrap the snake guide foot? Sam Slack

Gene... Thanks... but the problem still is that the 4th guide from tiptop would be on beginning of next section rather then moved up towards the tip yet still on the
ferrule wrap area. The rod company's chart has it on the very end of the tiptop section at 21 inches. Should I move that wrap up 1/2 or 1 inches so it would
clear the end of the ferrule? But then how much do I need

I need some suggestions for guide spacing (and sizes) for a Hook &/Hackle (Xi series) 4 piece, 2 wt. flyrod. Problem is standard guide charts
don't take into account putting 4th guide (from top) exactly on the female end of the tip section of the rod. So trying to figure better guide placement
(particularly on the end of the tip section) and all other guides. Would appreciate some

First I want to thank Spencer Phipps for answering my question about origins of my Lamiglas blanks. Thanks Spencer.
Second, I need some help determining the length of rear cork grip and foregrip for my salmon/ steelhead rod ( it is 8 1/2 feet long and is medium heavy, 2 piece).
Is there any formula for determining the distance between the rear grip and foregrip where reel sea

Would appreciate some help identifying two Lamiglas blanks: PSH 102 2MH, 8.5 feet, 2 sections, and PFW 84 2M, 7 feet, 2 sections.
The PFW 84 2M already has the handle installed and marked for 6 guides. Is this a spinning rod and needs single foot guides or is it a
bait casting rod and needs double foot guides and casting reel?
Is the PSH 102 2MH, a surf rod and what guides should it have..

My two section flyrod ( 2 section, 9' 4wt) is broken about 10" from the tiptop. Can it be repaired? How? Or must I just reconfigure the guides and add new tiptop to unbroken
second (tip) section? Never repaired any graphite rods and so wonder if all this is at all possible? Thanks...

My question is: can a flyrod tip (on 2 section 9' 4 wt) be fixed when broken about 10 " from the tiptop? Or just cut it off and shorten up the rod, but of course it
drastically changes the action of the rod.

I have found a flyrod blank I didn't remember but want to identify who made it. I think I bought it from Hook and Hackle, but am not sure and wonder what company
made it. It is a green graphite, 9 foot, 2 piece blank. The tag on it is " IGF904". Can anyone please help me identify its source?
Thanks. Sam Slack
