Went to the show in "10" & "11". Flew down from chicago with 2other guys, and we brought an empty rod case wirh us and put all our blanks in that for the trip home. No problems.

My rod room in basement about 68. Dont like it any cooler than that. A small space heater under your finishing bench while you epoxing might help.

Thread master lite has a very long pot life. Used to use flex coat, set up to fast for my liking. Give it a try, I think you will like it. I warm mine up for a few minutes in hot water before mixing as I think it helps eliminate air bubbles.

Bruce, I use the same finish at about the same temp. I like the fact that tm lite has a long set life to begin with.I can epoxy a whole in one setting. I let it turn and dry all night and get excellent results.

I tried dying cork with RIT dye. Used hot water and soaked for a long time. It didn't work. Basically, it just rinsed off. Maybe someone else has another method. Good luck. I will follow this thread.

For the amount of time that it takes to build a custom rod, I would NEVER use cheap guides. Why waste your time. I can go to the store and buy those rods for 30 bucks.
