124. Re: Travel tubes
Do you think it is available at Lowes or Menards? Wondering where I can purchase the lighter PVC

I've read in STS that for bank float fishing a slow action rod is best for getting the rig farther out into the river. Will be using flies and spawn.
Any suggestions for a fly blank at 14' or close enough that I can extend it to 14'? Cost is an issue as well. Would like to keep it at under $100. Thanks, guys.

127. Travel tubes
Anyone have a source for inexpensive aluminum tubing for making travel rod tubes? I want to cut a slot in the tubing so I can pass it beyond the reel stem on a spinning rod. I'll use short velcro straps over the cut slot to hold the tube in place.
I have developed a propensity for breaking rod tips (3 last year!).
Another note: Hey MICHIGAN! See you at the April RoundUp.

OK! Thanks a lot. I thought it would be better to locate the section closer to the butt because I think the force, when the rod is under a max load, transfers towards the butt section on any rod.

This sounds really good. How about the esthetics of a tip over butt, versus a spigot. Does it matter to most? This is a UL/F blank as well, so maybe there will be an issue about wall thickness to accomodate a spogot ferrule. While I've got you, How do you decide where to section the blank? Is ther a reason to make both sections of equal length? Thanks

I am sectioning a one piece 8' blank into two sections and need some guidance in fabricating a ferrule. I know they are available at mudhole, but I want to learn how to make my own and install it.
The blank is UL/F graphite. Thanks

Got it, Thanks! Found a site online selling fiberglass rods of varying diameters at good prices, free shipping. Could be a good source for making plug ferrules.

Need to convert a 1 piece graphite blank into a two piece. Tried the search and the library w/ no results. I know there's another "how-to" source but haven't used it in a while and my great memory is of no use, as usual. Any help with that or a basic tutorial?? Thanks people.

140. UL/L Blank
Hey Everyone,
I need suggestions for a 7'6" UL or L blank. I've searched mudhole, donart, getbit, and janns. No luck. Any help?
Also, if I need to extend the butt to get those last 6 inches, I'll need some help. Never done that before.
As always, any help will be greatly appreciated.

141. Re: mhx blanks
I also use MHX blanks almost exclusively. I don't think you can beat them for value. Been building for only 2+ years, but that has been my experience so far.

Hey Walt! Great advice. Slapped it in a vise and it unsrewed by hand. Slick as Aunt Millie's skin cream! Thanks, Walt.
