I do not have a lathe to turn wood, just one for cork. I am looking to have a reel seat and possibly wood split grips made out of a blue colored stabilized wood. Big leaf maple burl-blue or a similar wood. Any one on this site that does this type of work, please contact me. I am building another 14' floatrod Thank you

Curious?? What effect will tru oil have on cork grips? Will it dry to a sheen, like it does on wood? Will it damage the cork? Cork is technicallw a wood, right

63. broken rod
I have a customer who broke his rod(not in half, but rod is loose) where the reel seat and the cork come together. I was figuring on cutting the blank at this point, inserting either graphite or aluminum inside and rejoining the rod. Will this work???

Just looking for opinions on what type of finish will be well suited for my Red Cedar wood grips. I usually use tru oil. Which would be the best:
1) Tru oil
2)perma gloss
3)classic clear coat
Looking for different opinions.Thanks, Jerry
