Sorry to hear my good friend Dick French has passed away. I met him at the first Rod Crafters meeting I attended many years ago. Dick, Cam Clark and myself used to dine on Saturday night at our meetings. I have great memories of Dick and Cam and the times we shared. Dick was a legend in rod building to a lot of us who had the pleasure of knowing him he will be missed. Fuzz Morgan

Curtis, I fish the MB 874 MHX on Lake Guntersville Alabama. This lake has very heavy and dense vegetation and the 874 has the power needed to move a big fish. I agree with my friend Bob on his choice of blank for this type of cover. Bob is familiar with Guntersville when he lived in Tenn. and now Florida and the type of vegetation growing in them. Set the hook and start cranking with this ro

Bob, I agree with you on the MB843 being so great for different baits. A great blank to fish with due to the action.as well as all my MHX'S. Have been a true user of MHX'S since 2008. The new PRO Elites and the X-Elites are the best I have ever put in my hands, especially the new NMB873.5 MHX. Fuzz Morgan

I have two of these blanks and they are second to none. They are the lightest rods I have ever built and by far the most sensitive I've had in my hand. You almost tell when you go from muddy water to clear. lol Laying all joking aside they are awesome rods to have in my boat. I have been using the MHX,S since they were developed in 2008 by my good friend Todd Vivian. It's great to have Bob and To

Mr. Glover, In my opinion the MHX Blanks designed by my good friend, Todd Vivian at Mud Hole Custom Tackle are second to none. They are tough, durable, light weight, and very sensitive and fishing these blanks is amazing. The good Loomis Blanks are history and have been for a long time. The now Pro Elite Series MHX's are awesome to fish with, Durability, Light Weight, Small Diameter, Sens

Steve, Look on page 127 in the Mud Hole Catalog--j ---Super Grade Cork Pistol Grip. I used one of these several months ago for a customer who wanted one on a short spinner bait build. I reamed all the way through the handle from the back side so it would fit the blank. I then filled the hole with a small cork, cut it off and sanded place smooth. Lewis Morgan--- Fuzz's Custom Rods

Paul, I have been doing feather inlays for years and taught classes on how to do them. I found that the U40 color preserver works best for me, tried several different brands but for me this is the best. The key to feathers to retain their color after applying preserve is to let them dry really good(like overnight) . I always apply 2 coats to my inlays before applying my finish to them. Yo

Marco, I have just finished 2 of the PRO ELITE series using the EPS86MHF-MHX and the EPS86HF-MHX. I used the MHX WINN GRIPS with the MHX letters in green. The color I used with PRO Wrap Black-A- is the #501 KIWI-A-. Matched perfect. Fuzz Morgan

Larry, I have a good many of the old decals with the blank number on them which could be cut off . A lot of them are from the GL3's and GL2's matte finish. Most folks didn't want decals on a custom rod back then, so I just put them in a drawer in my rod room. I would be glad to mail you a few if you think they will work for you. Dean, Some of the easiest feathers to start out with are Pheasant feathers, they lay down on the rod and work great and look good also. I have made several fly rods and have different fly images on them . Really dresses up a fly rod. Good luck with your inlays. Fuzz Morgan

Brian, Talk to Bob at Mud hole as to what blank and to the application you desire. This guy is an authority on the type blank and type fishing you want to do. Started out with this guy almost 40 years ago and he never has never made a bad choice because of his experience in rod building is second to none. Spent a few days there in June doing some classes with Pat Vinzant and Don Morton on rod

Lorenzo, Just got several of the HM- MHX to build with the problem you stated you have. I use 91% alcohol to wipe blanks and presto the fingerprints are gone. Acetone is something I never use because of the harm it can do to blank as well as yourself breathing the vapors. Fuzz Morgan

Having just read all of you guys comments I wish you could have seen the Demo I did on Saturday morning concerning handle makeup. Not to say your way doesn't work but I think you could have picked up on a few ideas that I put to use. The weight factor and the sensitivity acheived is amazing when applied to your rod blank. Everyone that looked at the completed rod was very complimentary and I

Nanthaniel, Pat Vinzant is the best on snake skin applications and he uses the Color Lock 2 U -40 as I do with my skin and feather work. We have tried most all the other brands and this works best for us. It won't darken the skin and it lets you move it to position you desire very easily.. After letting it dry real good apply a second application to entire skin and let dry real good. Apply

John, At the end of your wrap make sure you don't have any cp from under your finish. If any is showing past your finish moisture can be wicked in under your wraps and make them cloudy. Lewis "Fuzz" Morgan
