Someone I know doesn't like the glossy finish on his rod blank. He wanted to dull the finish of his rod to a matt type of finish. Any suggestions on how to do this without compromising the rod?

Well, thanks for all the tips and ideas! I've checked out Mudhole and a few other sites. Didn't see anything close to a suitable replacement as yet. I was hoping to see a couple suppliers chime in with something. Anybody carry a tip top with a tube size of 3/64" and a ring size of 2 or 3mm?

OK... I know there has to be at least ONE other person out there with this same gripe. It can't be just me. What is up with Fuji's packing for their guides? I'm specifically talking about the ones where the guides are shrink wrapped (air-tight) to a piece of card board with some sort of "SUPER PLASTIC". OK, these are basic questions, and I think I already know the answers but I need to ask just to be sure there isn't anything I'm missing. Question 1: When I turn my cork handles, it seems inevitable that they will be some what out of round with the blank itself (i.e. the cork is higher on one side than it is on the other). What tips do you guys have keep your cork handles perfectly round w

OK, this is sort of a newbie question, but how do you guys install those rubber/cork composite rings as butt caps on your rods? I've done it a few times, but each time I do it I keep saying to myself, "there's got to be a better, easier, or faster way". I've tried using ones that have no hole in them, but turning them down becomes a pain. However, using the ones with the holes, I

Here's an interesting question... Let's say I have a customer who wants me to build a custom St Croix casting rod with blank model 3C70HF. They also want me to use an exposed blank seat. To save on shipping costs, obviously I'd like to order the blank and reel seat at the same time. However, since I have no way of knowing what the O.D. of a blank will be at the position where I will be install
