Thanks for letting me know that someone has had some success doing what occuried to me. I wonder if there are methods for measuring the inner taper of a blank. One idea that came to me is to use drill bits. A bit that enters the tip section to a depth of 2 1/2 inches and another bit that just enters the tip section should yield helpful information about the taper. Any other thoughts ?

I have two tip sections for an old Fenwick World Class fly rod that are for a 9 1/2 foot rod. ( The line weight is probably 8 or 9. ) They came from an @#$%& purchase along with the wrong butt section. I have been unable to find a matching World Class butt section through Fenwick or other sources. I'd like to create a butt section for use with these tip sections by using pieces of blanks from scr

I have built just one fly rod, but have plans to build several more. I wondered about the use of cork sealer on grips. Does the sealer really protect the cork from staining? What sealers are most commonly used, and are they very specifically for cork ? Is the cork easier to clean as a consequence of treatment, and are periodic retreatments necessary? Thanks

I am following up on an earlier post when I was not aware that the tip sections were from a 9 1/2 foot rod and the butt section from a 9 foot rod. One clue was that the tip sections fit about 6 1/2 inches over the butt section. For comparison, I have a 9 1/2 foot, 9 wt. Fenwick HMG 2 piece rod whose tip section and butt section are each 58 " long, just like the World Class tip sections I a

I would like some help solving a mystery. I bought what was advertised to be a 9 foot, 2 piece Fenwick World Class fly rod with serial number A01426. It was sold to me with two tip sections, both 58 in. long, but the butt section is just 55 inches long. Some calculation convinced me that the tip sections both were made for a 9 foot 6 inch rod, rather than a 9 foot rod, but the butt section is for

I also thought it sort of strange that the tip sections would seat so far onto the butt section, but because both were about the same in that regard, I thought it was okay - just different than my very limited experience would lead me to believe. The total length of the assembled rod with either tip section is over 107 inches, but less than 9 feet. Again, I thought Fenwick might have rounded i

Thanks for the feedback. One tip section seats 6 1/2 inches onto the butt section, and the other seats 6 1/4 inches onto it. They both seem to match the butt section well, although I have not cast the rod as yet. Too cold out !

I recently bought a 9 foot 8 weight 2 piece World Class Fenwick with two tip sections. It has a serial number of A01426. I'd like to know when this rod was made, and if it was routinely sold with two tip sections or if an owner managed to get an extra one on his or her own. I contacted Fenwick with these questions, but was told it was made in 1960 or 1961, and I know that is well before the rods
