One color combo that comes to mind and might work depending on your preference could be a deep purple NCP with light blue trim/inlay

A am building a rod for a good friend who just so happens to be a diehard Yankees fan... I am hoping somebody might have a pic of a Redsox butt wrap or sticker on a rod that I could show him and tell him it is his rod just to get him going. I've tried searching and googling but haven't come up with anything.... Thank you!

Thank you for the comments so far. As far as the blank choice goes, I really do want the light-ML power, moderate-slow-noodle action... The way I plan to use the rod is light line (6lb), and light weight, which is why I need to have such a low power/slow action blank. I used a friend's $50 ultralight noodle with the Michigan style handle a couple times last year, but it left much to be desired as

Hey, I know I asked this in my salmon rod components post, but it is driving me crazy... I know they used to be available, but I can't find them anywhere.... blue framed spinning rod guides.
I found an old post referencing American Tackle GZBS... It also said Baston and forecast made them? Why in the world can I not find any, ANY!!!! at all? the best I could find were just blue ring!?!?!

But anyways, I am wanting to build myself a new salmon/steelie river spin rod, and I'm looking for recommendations since products and technologies have changed so much over the last few years.

I'm looking for a 4' ultra light spinning rod blank, or a 4' long tip section from a fly rod. Where can I find a 4' blank or a fly rod tip section? and how much do they go for?

Also, I like to get the room nice and warm before I apply the finish, then close the heat vent to keep dust from being stirred up when the heat turns on during the night

Jann's netcraft has the grip and reelseat combo. I think it is $9 and they are good quality too.

Bob: The shop owner has been ordering a lot of the materials, unless it is something that he can not get, which in that case I order it. The last rod that I built for him took about 7 hours of labor and I made $25 profit which comes out to $ 3.50 per hour. I'm going to talk to him ASAP and tell him to consult with me before quoting any more prices.
Thank you for your input,
-Josh

The rods are being sold with my name on them. They are mostly all just simple fishing rods,no real intricate threadwork on them, but in my opinion, they are all high quality. I am selling rods trying to get some income, but it is mostly a hobby that I can get paid for. If you would like to see some photos of rods I've built you can go to my site www.geocities.com/customfishrods and click the pho

13. How much profit?
I gave the owner of a local tackle shop one of my business cards. I have been receiving orders through him, from his customers. He also builds rods, but says that the rods I produce are better quality than he can build, and he doesn't have the time to build rods to sell. When someone wants to get a rod built, he quotes them a price, and then calls me with the order so I can choose the blank reel

17. Sports Show
I am looking for some advice, I would like to know if you all think it is worth it to rent a booth in the Northeast Sports Show. I would have a few demo rods for people to see, and some rods that I would be willing to sell right at the show. The rental cost for the booth is $435 for the three day weekend. Do you think that I will make any profit? Also, If I choose to rent a booth should I have

I have done many St.Croix labels with only one so far having a mark. Just peel a corner of the label off with your fingernail making sure not to touch the sticky part with your skin. Set the edge of the label on the blank, gently and slowly rub back and forth from the side to side making sure not to get any bubbles, then apply the finish and you are done.

This is my first time using graphite reelseat arbors and I wanted to know, do I epoxy them to the inside of the reelseat before epoxying the reelseat to the blank or do I epoxy everything at the same time?
Thanks-
Josh

I like the Hook & Hackle IM6 blanks. they are good medium quality blanks that are nice to fish.

for sizing a winding check I usually order it two sizes smaller than the butt of the blank and have no problem with it fitting over the thread.

heat the end of the tip glue stick and pinch off a small piece of glue, and while it is still hot roll it into a cigar shape. Then drop the piece into the tube of the tip top, heat the tube and put it on the rod

for a smooth finish over waterslide decals I put a heavy coat of flex coat on then take the excess off with a spatula and I've never had a problem.

A while ago someone was talking about supplying people buying a rod with an information sheet about proper rod care. If you have one on your computer and would not mind sharing it with me could you please email it to me? Thanks cnyfishing@yahoo.com

Did you try sanding the finish after it was good and hard?

I have done this before, but It was a shop that only sold mid to high priced rods. The rods were in the middle price reange ($150-$180). The problem was not the price, as much as the waranty. People buying rods in a shop that have the money to buy a custom, or small production rod will usually buy a big name rod for a little more money just because of the warranty.

Soon I will be building a 6'6"Jigging rod, and I've never put together a set of guides for a spinning rod before and I am not sure what size guides to order. Thanks for the help.
