Is this the Wallowa? They rent pedal bikes in Joseph. You've put an idea in my head.

Gary, Sorry I didn't respond sooner-internet is down at home. I used a premade butt grip, the fore grip I turned. I have that at home and will have to get back to you, but that won't be until Monday. Ned

I built on a Batson 8wt blank. I started with Batson's suggestions for spacing, then adjusted a little. I thought that since I would be changing my hand position for different casting styles it might be good to have an untapered foregrip which was about three inches shorter than my spey grips. Works great. I tried a floating steelhead line, a windcutter spey line and a Rio steelhead and Atlant

A while back I asked a question about salvaging an oak grip on a solid glass blank. I didn't ignore the answers, I forgot my computer when I went to Wallowa Lake. Tom-I think that may be the answer. The blank is slightly loose in the fore grip. The reel seat appears to be riveted in place near the top end of the seat, and the blank may also be held by that rivet. I'm going to dremel off the rivet

I have just found a solid glass freshwater trolling rod, no idea of manufacturer. It has an oak grip that I would like to salvage to use on a rebuild of the blank, but the reel seat has both hoods split out. Any thoughts on how to salvage the butt sectionof the grip? Boiling doesn't seem an option in this case, or am I wrong?

I agree about the 9 inch foregrip. I built on the 8wt. blank as a steelhead rod. 9 inches is plenty and helps me to remember that hand is mostly just fulcrum any way. Great blank. Had a friend who was fishing a T&T try it. He was impressed. The hard part was deciding which line to use. I settled on a RIO steelhead and salmon. Kind of a cross between spey and one handed.

Has anyone used this or heard of it? It comes from a company in Woodland Washington.
