Hello all, Hoping some of you experienced bass rod guys out there can help me with a blank recommendation please. I have a friend who currently has an All Star, P907 FS, likes it a lot and wants another one similar to it built, but with "just a bit more tip", meaning just slightly less stiff as the All Star. Specs on the All Star F907 FS are: - 7ft, 6in - Fast - Heavy - 1

Thanks Steven, Mike and Mike! I really appreciate the suggestions and votes of confidence! Mike S., that's really interesting about the same blanks flexing differently. I definitely need to start static testing then. Thanks to all for the suggestions on what you use on your benches to do this. Much appreciated! Thanks! Jeff.

Thanks again to all for the information! Russell, no offense taken, you're absolutely right. It's time I learned how to static test. Duane, thanks for the validation and info! Steve, that is exactly what I was looking for! Much appreciated! That will get me started and serve as a guideline for when I do my static test on it. I just needed something to go off of so I can be confiden

Thanks to all who posted a reply. I understand the concepts of static testing, how to do it, etc. I just haven't built/acquried the tools to do it yet. I am a hobby builder and have just relied on the published charts to date, but getting into micros more now and want to set up this rod correctly. I was just hoping that someone out there who's built a 7' flipping stick, spiral wrapped wit

Thank you Barry. My apologies for using the wrong terminology. You are exactly correct, I was referring to "transition" guides. And yes I was meaning placement at 0, 60, 120 and 180 as you suggest. Thank you for clarifying. One question, are you suggesting I use a normal 7 ft rod spacing chart, placing the butt guide 50 inches from the tip then spacing per your recommendation, tr

Hello, I have seen several posts regarding the specific sizes of micro guides most are using from butt to tip, but I was hoping someone could point me to the actual spacing measurements you all are using for micros. I have searched the forum and came up blank. If someone knows of a post I would appreciate a point to it please. I'm building a 7' flipping stick, spiral wrapped with 2 bumper

Thank you Tom! That's what I figured. If the Recoils were better in the some way to other ring types I'm sure you'd have put that word out a long time ago. I knew you'd have the answer, you always do! Thanks again! Jeff.

Thanks to all who responded! Your comments make complete sense and I have been and remain sold that lighter weight = greater sensativity concept. But there is one piece of this question I need to focus on a bit more. My angler states that he can feel a nick in his line with the micros, but can't with the Fuji SIC, standard size guides, again both on an identical blank. I understand that is

Hello all, I have a tournament bass angler acquaintance who has the opportunity to fish two identical blank, very high modulus graphite baitcasters, one with Recoil guides and one with regular ceramic guides. He claims the one with the Recoils is far more sensative than the rod with the ceramic guides. Of course that is not much of a surprise. However, that got me thinking, what about micr

Thanks for the input everyone! Tom, I burned through both my silver and one of the holographic sheets in my pack playing with ink settings and positioning of the decal on the paper. No luck, this printer has so many rollers on it there was no where I could place the label without one or two scratches gettng into the label as it fed out after printing. The C88 is a bit out of my price range.

Hello, I picked up a pack of the media sheets from the Swampland booth at the expo and just tried my first rod decals. I'm using an HP InkJet 4280 and while it does an OK job, after the label is printed it's putting tiny scratches in the ink on the way out, before the ink is dry. After much moving around of the decal printing it at various places on the sheet, it's just not working, every o

Can anyone recommend a good printer to do these labels please? I have an HP 4200 that does an OK job, but after the label is printed it's putting tiny scratches in it on the way out. Would the Cannon PIXMA (ip2600) be a good one? Hoping to find one tin the $50 to $70 range that has the capacity to handle these 8.5x11 media sheets. Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Thank you! Jeff

Thank you Rich! Bingham Enterprises here locally in Kansas City also contacted me, said they had a few in stock too. If it turns out theirs aren't the green ones, I'll definitely try Anglers Workshop. Your seminars were fantastic Rich! It was a great pleasure to meet you. I hope this wasn't your last expo! And I'm sure many others would share that sentiment as well! Take care! Jeff.

I just wanted to "ditto" the comments above about the show. What an experience! I've only been hobby building rods for about a year now, I'm just now working on my 7th build and my friend that attended with me has yet to build his first rod. We live in the Kansas City area and know no one else that builds rods. What little we know about this we learned on forums like this and from b
