Over the years I have ended up with older components like reelseats and guides. I hate to just throw them out. Any ideas? Scott

Have any of you used a Breakaway Cannon Trigger on you surf casting spinning rods? Was thinking about better ways to mount besides electrical tape or zip ties. Can't imagine tape on a custom rod. Scott

Looking for suggestions for a thread color match for the gold color on Penn Slammer reels. Would prefer size D if possible. Building a surf spinning rod for drone fishing. Scott

Tom, Is it possible to change the print color of the post on the main page? The subject line color is blue with light and dark stripes. The printing is getting hard to read with my tired old eyes. Scott Mr. Magoo

I am wanting to use a decal of a mermaid for a friends rod. What I would like to do, is have the decal covered with white thread that when it gets wet you can see the decal, and when it is dry it is covered by the thread. Has anyone tried something like this? Scott

You might consider using a coupler on the end of the threaded rod you intend to put in a three jaw chuck. It will prevent the threads from getting mucked up. Scott

I notice some spey rods use snake guides and some use ringed guides. Is there a rule of thumb for when to use snakes or rings? Scott

Dennis, I do want to have higher performance guides, was just hoping to find something with a red insert to give the rods the "look" of the old agate rings, with the performance of today's high tech materials. I do not want red frames. Might just have to go with something different. Gold color would look good too. Thanks for the suggestions all. Scott

Dennis, I make my own blanks. The handles are made on the blank with the fore grip stacked birch bark, c r b wood trigger seat and 1/4" cork for the butt grip. Scott

I did the Rit dye thing back in the 80's. The agate guides don't hold up to braid. $1000 a set might be too much.

Thanks for the vintage guide suggestions. I am looking for a modern alternative. I thought I had read somewhere one of the guide companies were considering a red insert guide. Scott

I am looking for some casting guides with red inserts. Any suggestions? They are for a series of bamboo musky casting rods. Matching tip tops would be nice too. Not concerned about the price. Scott
