In search of fly rod reel seats designed for Euro nymph techniques. Long, light fly rods in the 2,3,4 weight categories. Preferably down locking seats with threaded butt ends that accommodate small fighting butts and/or weights to balance the rod. Is anyone aware of who manufactures and/or sells these seats?

How are you setting up guides on float rods for use with center pin reels. Due to the large diameter of a center pin reel, I assume the butt guide needs to sit rather high. However, I don't see why the diameter of the guide ring would need to be larger than say a 20 or 16. Next, I would imagine that the next couple of guides would also be high frames transitioning the line down to the blank. T

Thanks for the help guys. REC shows great looking spinning seats in their catalog. None are available in a silver finish however; only pewter and black. I'll take a look at the ALPS. Thanks.

I am building a "once in a lifetime" rod as a gift. It is a spinning rod using a SCIV gloss cobalt blue blank. I am using Fuji gold cermet guides. Does anyone know where I can find such a seat? Also, would the Pac

Great Lakes steelheaders often wade into the lakes at the various river mouths in the early fall to cast small spoons long distances to steelhead waiting to run up stream. I have been asked to build a rod specific to this type of fishing. The lures used are 1/4 oz. spoons (no bigger/no smaller). The line is usually 4 or 6 lb. mono. The rod would be of a spinning configuration and would need t

I'd like to try painting a few reel seats (Fuji DPS). Is there a way to remove the front hood from the reel seat? How is it affixed to the graphite tube?
Thanks

Thanks Fred and Andy -
Great information. Thank you very much.
Andy, is the Valspar paint being used by a blank manufacturer a base coat (requires a clear coat) or is it a single stage (doesn't require a clear coat) such as Dupont Imron?

Gentlemen - I am seeking insight on the best paint and clear coat to use when painting a rod blank. My other hobby is custom airbrushing and painting. However, I have never applied this to rodbuilding.
I generally use urethene based automotive paint (ie. House of Color, PPG, Dupont, ect.), or water based automotive paint (Auto Air), when airbrushing. My first question is whether anyone has
