If you still like St. Croix blanks but want to explore more color options, check out our RODgeeks blanks. Same designs, materials, and tooling as St. Croix, just made in their Mexico facility (and a lower price because you're buying directly from the manufacturer).
Here's a blog explaining the relationship:

A lot of good information is in this thread, so there isn't too much to add that isn't already covered. But here are a couple points:
1) The vast majority of rod breakage is from user error of some sort. I believe Tom Kirkman did a great study on this.
2) High sticking is a common cause of breakage. For most rods doing most types of fishing, the 90 degree limit is a smart rule of thumb. A f

Hi All,
We're pleased to announce the addition of four new high modulus rod blank models to our Carbon 4 series. As many of you know, our Carbon 4 blanks are the same as St. Croix's SCIV blanks, so you can bet they will perform at a high level. They are offered at our factory-direct pricing, so they are the best bang for your buck you can find. It's nice to buy right from the manufacturer!

Hello Everyone,
Just want to remind rod builders that the most popular St. Croix blanks are still available from Rodgeeks. This link will explain how to know what is what:
Before you switch to a new blank brand, check with us first. There's a good chance you can still get the SAME BLANK you used to get from St. Croix, not another brand's blank that is "close".

Seth, this is a great resource, and thank you for compiling it. One small note though- Rodgeeks blanks with an "XS" at the end stand for "extra sensitive", not extra slow. They are blanks with a very fine tip, but they are not slow actions.

Herb, just to make sure we are on the same page, the blanks in the Bass 2 and Bass 4 Series are the ones with slightly slower designs. Blanks in the Carbon 2 Series and Carbon 4 Series are NOT slower. They are the same as St. Croix

Hi All, here to clarify a few things:
1) The blanks on our website labeled St Croix (i.e. the SCV) are made in Park Falls, WI, and therefore we are maintaining the St. Croix name brand on them.
2) The vast majority of Rodgeeks branded blanks are exact St. Croix designs, made with the exact same materials, tools, and processes. The only difference between them is where they are made. Rodgee

Jeremy and Paul, we are looking at adding some more options in those series/powers, so stay tuned. Shawn, unfortunately we do not have any plans for ice blanks. Drew, we are not looking to sell any components other than blanks and our selection of painted reel seats.

Tom, you should have received a St. Croix decal in the mail (in an envelope). Going forward all St. Croix blanks will ship with a St. Croix decal. Email info@rodgeeks.com and we will get you another decal. Sorry for the trouble.

We understand that there are still a lot of questions out there concerning St. Croix blanks and RODgeeks. Please feel free to ask them here or to email us as info@rodgeeks.com. We regret not being able to make it to the show in Winston-Salem this weekend, so please help us spread the word that we are more than willi

A rod builder was kind enough to write a very detailed review of our XC804 blank that he built for musky fishing. We know how tough it is to buy blanks without bending them in person, so hopefully this write up will help some of you better understand this blank. It includes both pros and cons.

We get a lot of inquiries about starting a rod business, so we wrote a blog outlining some things to think about before you open shop. It's been well received so we figured we would share it here.

Hi Everyone,
RODgeeks did register to exhibit at the 2019 Expo but we had to withdraw when several members of our team had conflicts that could not be rescheduled. We will miss seeing the many friends we have made over the years and hope to return in 2020. I hope the show is productive and enjoyable for all who attend.

We have a blank designed for drop shot- sensitive tip with medium heavy power. Has the sensitivity in the tip, plus the backbone you need to fight the fish.

Jay,
We designed our 42" blank (C236M) to perform to the standards of adult fishermen, but it also makes the perfect kid rod because they can continue to use it their whole life.

Hey Rick,
You should check out our blanks here at RODgeeks. We are partners with St. Croix, so you will be very pleased with the quality of our blanks. Because we sell factory direct, you'll like the prices also. Our Carbon 2 blanks are just like St. Croix blanks made with SCII material, and our Carbon 4 blanks are similar to their SCIV material. The only drawback is we don't have full kits,

Rodgeeks is pleased to announce a new blank: the C236M (found here: )
This composite blank is only 42 inches long, but can be fished like a traditional 7 foot, medium power rod. Even we were surprised by how far the blank casts, plus it is extremely maneuverable and fun to use. Best of all, it's short length allows you to easily bring it wherever you go (everyone at Rodgeeks keeps one in their

It's a composite blank with glass in the upper section. Other than that we have a range of glass blanks in our S-Glass series.
