I always hate when a rod comes back broke but 3 in 2 days wow I haven't had 3 all last year. I guess the more rods I build the more chances for some to come back. I may need to give a lesson on rod care with every purchase or just charge more LOL. Maybe once they pay for the rebuild they will learn.

I know it sound crazy trust me. Its not the air from under the wraps I can get those out. I cant see any air over the threads just over the white. Is it possible the left over air that becomes clear on the black blank is more visible on the white? I can epoxy over a black blank and it is 100 percent clear of air. I take it and place it under a strong light some of the supper small air bubbles bec

Any one else find it much harder to eliminate the air bubbles form white blanks over wraps and decals not guides. I can finish multiple blanks in one sitting and the white always has air bubbles the black blanks are great.

I recently built 2 rods with recoil micros. I was a little nervous at first. Once the builds were complete I put a lot of load on the rod and rolled it back in forth to see if they would move or even lay flat. They held up nice no bending like I thought I would see.I know some folks hate them because of the noise but has any body had major failure? These rods were heavy casting blanks. So far s

Customer requested a Pac Bay split seat with a perfect fit thread cover. I haven't ever built a hidden thread set up before. Can I use Fuji KDPS Quick lock hood with a perfect fit carbon thread cover? Then trim it to fit the threaded section of the Pac bay seat. If that makes sense.

Has anyone else had any problems with the duralite/nanolite micro guides breaking at the foot? They seem to bend very easy then break off when they are straightened out. Thinking about switching to the Artus heavy duty guides or go Fuji kbag or blog.

Have a customer who wants to use Prowrap Metallic purple 9600. He was warned about the possibility of it fading fast and did not seem to mind to much. I really hate for it to fade fast on him and he gets upset. I have used the blue and will never again but never the purple. I have not had any problems with other colors. Is there any other thread that will come close to matching that may not fade

Sorry I haven't responded been fishing . Tom is right I will send off for a new blank. My warranty is after the first 30 days the customer is responsible for all labor and additional parts for the new blank period which everyone knows prior to the build and again when they pick up the rod. I am a very nice guy and hate to see someone upset because of a breakage but I can't afford to give rods aw

Since I started this rod building business I have built 30 rods this year(Just for a side deal not a living). I have been building for about 6 years but clearly do not know everything. I have had 2 tip breaks due to hang ups underwater which the customers understood it would not be warranted and they both have ordered more rods. I just got a call on a 3rd rod the customer stated he broke on a ca

That was the most difficult guide i have ever taken off. The thread just falls apart when i pull on it and the finish doesnt seem like epoxy. The worse part is some of the white paint came off but at least it will be under the new thread. Seems like they install the guides very poorly which makes the repair very painfull.

My 2 rods finished out good, not perfect but really good and Bubble Free. I have been testing multiple ways to apply it and have been getting really good results. I think I found my fisheye problem and have corrected it with great results. I also have noticed that if I apply the epoxy to thin when I heat it ( even just a little) it damages the epoxy and creates problems like fisheyes and waves. A

So I spoke with my CPA today. The online system is only for payments, not to file the Form 720. You have to paper file the 720 and snail mail to the IRS (which is a little crazy that you can't submit a payment with the form -- one snail mail and one online, but go figure). So today I mailed two 720s (Q1 and Q2) with my previous payment receipts. We shall see.

OK I started finishing the 1st of 2. I cooled my shop to approx. 70 degrees. I lightly sanded the air bubbles out of the epoxy. I placed my Pearl Label decal onto the rod. I then used some goo gone as I normally do and remove the glue that pushes outside of the decal. I then use Denatured alcohol to clean the goo gone off and clean the blank. I then wipe off the little particles from the blank wi

Ok I have some great idea's. I will cool the room down which will not be very hard. The heat idea I do but I may be giving it to much. I use a small torch should I use a hair dryer or a heat gun, but would they throw dust. Would you say that 2 much heat would cause the epoxy to lose its abilty to level and instead lump up.( get wavy).

Its aggravating, I can build 5 rods with glass finish then I have I with problems. I think it has to do with the weather so I will need to change products or application. I like the threadmaster lite but I have tried every way possible to correct the problem. Looks like I will change products.

Just when I thought I had the whole epoxy finish down to a science I was wrong. I have two rods turning and the epoxy is just not right. To my standards if I have several small air bubbles in the finish its too many. I can't play with the finish or it turns out lumpy so I have to leave the bubbles in. I'm using Threadmaster lite and have for several years now. Do you guys consider a few air bubbl

I have not sent in any paper forms. I thought I was submitting the form online when I made the payment because I select the form, fill in the blanks, etc. when I pay the tax. I thought it could all be done online.

I have been paying the quarterly federal excise tax online starting this year in January, or so I thought. Today I received a letter from the IRS stating that I have a credit for the amount that I have paid and telling me I need to file this return. Can you file a return through the EFTPS system OR is there a different site that you actually file the return on and then pay with EFTPS?

I use scotch brand clear tape. It doesn't leave behind any glue after I burnish the edges. I'm always looking for better ways to build. What's the difference in scotch and transfer tape?

Yes I have everything I called the phone number from the online site and was advised to override the error message that is telling me i'm not registered for form 720 and just make the payment He stated everything was filled out correctly. He stated after several payments the error message will go away. That doesn't sound very legit. I will just make the payment and hope for the best.

I have all my paperwork to logon and pay Q1 excise tax. Went through the whole process on the site and before would take payment, the site said I wasn't enrolled to pay the tax. Went through the whole enrollment process, received PIN in mail, what else do I need? Or do I just make the payment and that will finish the enrollment?
