Customer requested a Pac Bay split seat with a perfect fit thread cover. I haven't ever built a hidden thread set up before. Can I use Fuji KDPS Quick lock hood with a perfect fit carbon thread cover? Then trim it to fit the threaded section of the Pac bay seat. If that makes sense. Edited 1 time(s). Yes, the kdps will need to be trimmed down to fit the perfect fit thread cover carbon fiber sleeves. You could also use the SK2 graphite nut for hidden tread (skss/ash) these nuts are made to fit the carbon fiber sleeves and do not need to be cut down. They will work fine with the PAC Bay treaded tube, and they look good. Hope this helps.

Think of the thread cover (any thread cover as far as we know) as an "assembly". It will require a base ring, carbon sleeve and cap ring that all fit together properly. Most of the assemblies have tenons. The base ring has a tenon that fits into the carbon sleeve and the cap ring has a tenon that fits between the inside of the carbon sleeve and the outside of the seat tube. On KDPS this does not happen. The base ring butts the carbon tube and the tenon of the cap ring butts the tube of the seat. So, the KDPS has to be cut off short enough to butt on the inside of the tube...about 4 or 5mm shorter than other assemblies. One of those things that's difficult to explain but very easy to see when you're working with the parts.
The nice thing about Perfect Fit for KDPS is the universality of the part. It's been around for decades and fits any size 16 or 17 seat from any manufacturer. Now, you have the option of turning it into a very nice looking carbon thread cover thanks to Perfect Fit. Trim the KDPS tube, trim the threads and you're ready for a very light, very attractive cover. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
