Hi guys,
I have a customer asking for a handle built from tuna cord. I have no problem wrapping it that way but after it is wrapped do I epoxy it the same as a guide wrap? My thought is I leave it and have a turks head at the top? I told him I have not done one myself before and was asking for advice before agreeing to do something I can't!
Thanks guys for any answers.

4. build order
Hi guys
Just wondering everyone seems to do all their butt wrapping after the handle is in place.
Is there anything wrong with marking out all the lengths for the handles then doing the butt wraps BEFORE the handle is on? Then doing 1 coat of finish before assembling the handle?
Seems it would be easier?
Thanks in advance guys

I agree that they are probably trying to tell you what reel to use but that is really confusing!
Braid sinks down faster than mono but both will sit on the surface due to surface tension. This is why most carp anglers after casting will "sink" the line by holding the rod tip under the surface for a minute or two.
The only reason both lines don't sink straight away is they usually have

Both are the same. The differences between the 2 are:
1) Diameter, Braid is thinner at the same breaking strain to mono.
2) Braid is lower memory than mono.
3) Braid has no stretch where as mono stretches to provide a better buffer against fish.
4) sinking speed, Braid will sink faster.
5) Abrasion resistance in braid is much lower than mono so rocks, shells etc. effect it more and it will b

I just finished a build with the LS7 very easy to wrap.
I used it on a SPSWB8H from mudhole over the surf grip and it fit like a dream!
I highly recomend

I just kind of poke the brush in there without hitting the guide as the rod turns! If you do it and there is some without finish than it will flow together. As I say I think its ok either way I just prefer the finish that way is all!

Hi buddy,
I have built a few now and have done both. I tend to cover the middle but that's because I think it looks better.
If there is no underwrap I don't think its necessary.
It is easier to leave the middle blank.
I think its just personal preference .

I had some of these to do the other week. I snipped the eye off then carefully unwound with pliers (just cos it hurt my fingers) if you loosen them so they turn you can slip them off the top of the rod. They leave groves in the blank though so I marked out the length of the new eye on the blank and put some finish direct onto the rod (just like i would a finished guide) and this filled in the gr

17. generic rods
Hi all,
Just wondering, Now that I have a few custom rods under my belt I was wondering if it would be worth my while using the profit I have so far to buy the parts for some generic rods that I could sell online ie. Making some rods for $75 each and then putting them on amazon/@#$%& for $150?
The reason I ask is that normally if someone is going to drop that kind of money on a rod they will wa

Hi
I just finished a build with the Fuji LS7 reel seat and first of all I love it!! very easy to use!! I used size D overwrap but didn't need an underwrap as I had layered the blank with surf grip tape.
The one I used had a cushion and skirt and if it was to go straight onto the blank I would not bother with the underwrap as the cushion seems like it would do fine.
For the full metal one I wo

21. Re: shipping
Just to add my 2 cents worth.
I just placed an order of $60 and the shipping came to $23, At first glance high right?
But this included a 1 piece 8" rod as well as all the components I need to make a good profit for myself.
Plus there is insurance and packaging to think about so I don't think its too bad. Annoying when you are ordering 1 or 2 items but not bad when you have a big order

I am looking to get a Fuji FS7 reel seat but when searching online I seem to only find it from English sites!
Do any of the sponsored businesses here sell them?
Thanks

27. guide material
Hi guys quick one for you
I have a customer who needs a boat rod built where he will be using braid with fish up to 50lb.
What type of guide material would be best for this application? He really doesn't want to use any roller guides on this rod
Thanks for responses

Hi guys,
I have a customer looking at a new rod and is interested in the custom builder value E-Glass blanks from mudhole. I have never used these before has anyone here got any experience with them?
Anyone know the manufacturer? Or if anyone has had any problems with them?
Thank you for responses in advance

Hi guys
just wondering can you marble the entire length of a fishing rod? Or would this crack when bent? I know it would add weight but would it also make the rod too rigid?
Thanks in advance for all replies
