31. feather inlay
Hi guys tried searching for the answer to this with no luck so sorry if its been asked before.
How do I go about making a feather inlay on a rod?
Do I just hold the feather there and epoxy over it?
Thanks guys for all answers

35. marbling guides
Hey guys
Quick one for you tonight.
When marbling a rod I have found the edges can get messy, Has anyone tried using tape to mask of the end of the marbling area then peeling the tape off before the pigment dries?
Does this give a straight edge or does it smear the edge?
Thanks for any replies and thanks for the support from all you guys on this forum.

While watching some youtube vids I noticed that on this vid the first eye is upside down and according to the comments it allows the line to unspool easier.
Is this correct? Is there any other benefit to this?
Or is it just a cool way to get your rods noticed?
Thanks for any responses

39. line test
Hi all,
I have some blanks which I am not sure of the line weight (old blanks with no labels)
How can I test them to find this out? Or is there some kind of calculation based on material and butt diameter etc.?
Thanks in advance for answers

Hi all,
Just starting work on a st croix challenger from the 80's which is badly damaged.
I need to cut the blank and either add new ferrules or make it a 1 piece rod by epoxying the sections together. Which would you recommend doing?
Also St Croix do not supply the guides used in that rod anymore so does anyone know somewhere I can get these from?
Last question is this rod worth putting lot

Hi all might be a silly question but if I use the flexcoat color preserve and thread sealer do I need to use an epoxy on the wrap as well?
Is this product an all in one?
Thank you

I have just started taking orders for by rod building business and was wondering how much of a mark up other builders charge as its been commented by people that i am really cheap?
for example if a rod costs me $100 for materials to build what should I be charging for my time?
Thoughts on this appreciated

53. loose reel seat
Hi all
I have a rod which has a prefect cork handle but the reel seat just spins around so obv the epoxy has come off the seat. Can I repair this without removing anything else?
I was thinking drill a hole in the seat and inject new epoxy into the hole? Would this work?

55. old eyes
Hi
Doing lots of refurbishing on old rods at the moment and I now have lots of old eyes that are good except they are discolored (going greeny) are there any chemicals that will clean them up so I can use them for future projects? Or should I just go at them with steel wool?
Thanks in advance for any answers

59. double winding
Just wondering if there is any disadvantage(other than making the rod slightly heavier) to winding the thread to secure the eye and then putting another layer over the top to make it look good before epoxying?
Thanks for any replys in advance
