To answer some of your questions, I fish mostly open water areas, mostly Lake St. Clair. Most of my tube fishing is done with 3.5-4" tubes with 3/16-1/4 ounce jig heads. I would also use this rod to swim grubs on 1/8-1/4 ounce heads.
I might just buy one and try it. I think the blank is only like 55 dollars and I have some Fuji alconite Y-Frames from a broken rod. I can probably finish t

Hello everyone,
I've been looking for a new blank to build on for fishing tubes. Looking at the XMG LP842 popping blank. I've inquired about this blank a long time ago and don't remember what everyones thoughts were about it other than it was super light and very sensitive. My question is, would this blank be ideal for throwing these baits? In the research i've done, some guys say its too ligh

Hey guys,
I just completed my 2nd build. I've been asking a lot of questions about spinning blanks lately because I've been looking for a blank to fish tubes with on St. Clair. I ended up getting a Phenix M1 7-2MXF and just figured i'd share with you guys my experience so far with the blank and questions for a newbie that I still have after building it.
So as far as the build, I decided to

St. Croix, Loomis, NFC, Phenix, 13 Fishing, Lamiglas, etc... there are a ton of companies mass producing rods. Where they get their blanks is another deal. Calvin,
I'm not an expert rod builder but I've dibbled and dabbled and currently shopping for my next few blanks to wrap before the upcoming bass season in Michigan. For me I can relate to you in the sense that you seem like you are a guy that likes good/functional equipment.
This is what drew me to rod building. There are a ton of manufactures today and they all have some very nice featur

Just wondering if the premade SK2 grips will fit the innards of the ECS reel seats?

Hey guys,
Its the dead of winter and it has been downright awful which has left me sitting at home doing much of nothing. The only thing I can do is attempt to get ready for the upcoming guide season on Lake St. Clair and the Detroit River, which last season left me needing to replace a few rods that are broken.
Last year, I built my first rod and I got pretty hooked on the idea of being ab

I just finished my first rod build and just wanted to share it with you all. I just registered to this site, but prior to this build, I read as much information as I could about rod building from this site. I owe you guys a bunch for this coming out as well as it did. Two weeks ago I didn't have a clue. Sooooo... Here is the somewhat finished product before it got the final epoxy treatment.
