Same reason when you go into Mudhole now the only blanks they have out are MHX, and stock of everything else is minimal. Good marketing is good for business evidently.

I built a black hole 701L exclusively for gotcha plugging that I use to commercial fish long periods with and primarily throw 7/8oz. I get the distance I need with 7ft, but have used rods up to 8ft before. Build weight was a primary factor for me so length suffered to min lengtg and I prefer a fast to extra fast actioned rod so I move the jig with less rod movement. Some guys use more moderate ro

Already have the final SIC set ordered, since I had to break it up in two payments. Have had the rvs for a little while but was going to go Torzite if it panned out with the 7s. At the rate I burn through braid, Im probably going the Alconite route from now on because Im not sure if SIC offers any practical advantage for the extra expense.

My topic is closed anyway since Im right where I was before I started it so feel free. My tube size is a 8 so all the new fancy kg top stuff doesn't apply. Do like the new concept but will just have to be more stuff to add to the fuji wish list with my torzite ldbs and larger ldbs. Don't understand why they even offer things like a size 40 kw frame if everything has to end with a 6 for tip offer

Putting together the final component list for a personal rod and was pretty set on ordering size 8 tkwsg sic runners through the tip. Running the comparison to torzite I would actually have more knot clearance with minor cost increase using a tkwtg 7 over a tkwsg 8. Problem is that I don't think fuji has a torzite tip over 6 yet. Anything out there? Would need a size 7 or maybe an 8 ring to get m

Looked at the website and couldn't find any detailed information on the shrink from guidesnblanks, just has says plain shrink but cost seems about right. Would hate to order $40 shrink and get same stuff I already have. Did find this stuff through a search. Anyone ever use or buy from this place? Would prefer to buy from a sponser or source in US as the first option. Thanks again

Does anyone know where to source Japanese shrink grip like the stuff used on Century rods? Have the standard and xflock available but prefer the almost felt like feel of the japanese shrink. Was referred to veals but they are out of stock. Next step will be contacting century direct but wanted to see what was available on the market. Any sources? Thank you

The builders lobbying got their stripper guide already, fuji's new rv guides. Imo 40 is way too big for 40lb braid and an 8000 shimano. Im getting built a very similar setup for a 5k Saltiga/8k stella and Im using an 25 rv stripper down to size 8 runners since I want to pass knots. If not size 6 ldbs are the only runners I use anymore

You can put me down for 10 of each size if that helps you push the issue, lol. A reinforced single foot in larger sizes, say 8 and 10, I would think could be very useful as well if the market ever got on board. Atleast the RV is a step in the right direction, so thanks for that

TKWSG25L T stands for titanium, B would be for black frame KW Frame Style S is Sic Ring, A would be Alconite, T for Torzite G for Guide, T for tiptop 30 size of ring L is for low frame, H for high, M for medium Doesn't cover everything but pretty easy to figure out once you get the basics

Thanks Jim for the clarification. Putting the rod components together now and trying to decide the runners to make the final desicision on torzite or SIC. I am still leaning towards the ldb if I go 6 because I have had a few issues with kt frames and have found the ldb to be superior to kb with frame flex. Only have the SiC option there. Not many guys using them yet on heavier surf rod applicati

Jim I was only initially comparing the rings in the same titanium double frame when I noticed the difference. Here is a few tkw examples: 40j torzite 103.99 Sic 82.35 Difference $21.64 30j Difference from Previous Post $14.44 25j torzite 57.99 Sic 45.29 Difference $12.70 One would assume that the ring cost of rv should be comparable to kw if not the same exact ring. The cost of RV Torzit

Every rod I own is fuji titanium. Last build was klh torzite and build before that my stripper was about equal to the rclb blank price. Dont need a lesson on fuji quality, I have paid for them and believe in them. I am asking why a 25 RV guide is not $79.99 instead of $97.99? What is the difference in a rv 25 ring and a kl ring? Why is a 30 kw torzite guide which should use more material for fram

I was asking about the ring not the frame. I don't have a single foot to compare ring size to a double foot. Was just saying that the size 25 ring in single frame is a difference of $10 from torzite to SiC and in double foot almost $30. Frame is not in the equation

So I was looking up the MH retail pricing for the next build and noticed a big jump in price. Looking at the titanium rv guides and the 25 comes in at a bargain of 97.99, SiC is 69.99. If you go to klh the torzite 25 is 54.79 and SiC is 44.79. My question, is this the same ring? $10 more in one frame, and $28 in another? I don't understand fuji pricing, never did. Feel like Im getting screwed he

Then everytime I have a fuji tiptop with corrosion, I should ask for my money back? The tube is not titanium as far as I know unless things have changed really recently, and heard it was due to something about inability to weld titanium? Can you clarify this Jim? I have had a few show corrosion even with daily washings and never saw anything from fuji saying it wasn't full titanium.

Went to Mudhole today and looked at some blanks. The Century 1505 looks like it will fit the bill but it is quite expensive. CCP looked very thin walled for my taste. Wasnt fond of the action of the pomp or pomp light and they are 1pc so forget transporting that. Looking into some breakaway ldx factory builds to get started with, but still open to blanks if I can find some.

Looking for some pompano blank recommendations that are 13' to match an existing afaw rod. Pretty new to the fishery but wanted to stay atleast 12' in the 2-5 range for max distance when needed and for height above the weed wash. Budget is also a concern since I will be building 3 identical rods pompano specific. Have been looking at Century and CCP but blank prices are relatively high. Any recom

B-Black Frame, KW-Frame Style, AG-Alconite Guide (Ring Material). Not sure if the frames have a specific names but T preceeding means Titanium, SG = SIC, and TG = Torzite. C could be for Casting, Concept, or for no particular reason. Not sure on that one but rest of it is easy to follow.

Paulusjustfishing can give you some good general information on line types. Thats the best place to start for breaking strength and characteristics of the lines. Your post was a little confusing to me and I don't really know what your looking for in breaking strength. 8 strand braids give me the best results, I like SW Ultracast Invisibraid, and the 20lb probably breaks at double the rating.

I had four gloomis rods that kept the shape of my maverick flats boat rod gunnels during a hurricane evacuation. It was open air and never got above 85 in October. Had twelve rods and only the loomis rods did it. Of course they told me it was my fault and it would take excess of 200 degrees to reshape like that so no warranty was issued. Never bought another overpriced rod/blank from them again b

Biggest I ever need to go is 30 for my 10,000 size stuff. Hop

Lynn I apologive if I anyway hijacked the other thread. Seemed to be alot of fuji bashing going on without any actual content to back it up. My take on it was that both options are going to result in negligable casting distance differences. At that point when you consider the other factors such weight, ring material, and options then fuji gets the nod. If you change reels or line types alot or al

Rolly, Last time I checked, the stripper was a ti coated product not full titanium. Full titanium runners and then going with a coated striper seems half ass to me. Thats why that was said. So we are clear, I like the mw system very much, and it flat out works. If your building a rod where you will be changing reels and line types then it is a perfect solution. My problem lies in the optio
