I don't know how you are even gunna get even close to casting 100 yds with a shark bait. Im a hardcore regular at the inlet and you really only need to cast twenty yards from Northside and about 30 yds from South and then let the current do the rest. Sharks are usually about 250 yds or more towards monster hole at times as well. If you really wanna cast that far your gunna need atleast an 11ft ro

63. Re: shipping
Good thing your not buying blanks over 9ft. You might change your tune when a large company saves you over $50 from what you can do it for yourself. I get your point but it is your choice to buy or not. Im too cheap and just wait for free shipping specials. Does suck to pay more for shipping then the guides though

Thanks Mitch, that was the info I was looking for. I guess what I was looking for was whether can successfully hide the seam or embelish the connection to disguise. I actually really liked the deer lacing but on a spinning rod I would be concerned about more about being in contact more so while fighting the fish on foregrip. Because of this I imagined a lighter guage stiched seam like a couch. Cu

That honestly was my first thought but was concerned about the overlap. Stingray is much thicker than abalone so there would probably be a noticable contour there. You may be able to "feather it out" and that may be the way to go and may look great. I was thinking that if you went with cork or foam under then you could modify that, some sort of recess, to disguise the overlap. Im not a

Off topic, but I never really got an answer from my post last week. How do you go about installing the skin and finishing the seem? I was imagining some type of thread stiching for my application unless there is a better way I cant think off. I really wanna try this stuff but hate the large eye sore seam Ive seen in pics. One solution given based on a different build was a leather lace but that s

I think the lacing looks really good and adds a nice extra touch to the rod. Probably not for my current application but a good solution. I feared the seam would be alot more visible then the virtually seemless chatter I've heard of but never seen. The pic is usually of the top of the grip and not the seam. All I could conjure up was some type of pipe clamp type application to pull the seam toget

Who out there has given these a try and your thoughts? If so, what is the best way to install and hide the seem.

Thank you for the link. I was told that they are more overseas options but have never had to source one out. I didn't like the idea of a larger tip and wanted to try some ldb guides. Thanks again

Unless I dont know where to look I am unable to find a Fuji titanium size 6 tip for the larger tube size of 8. I was trying to go out of my comfort zone and go with tkbsg 6 runners on a 9' FSC but the tip is a tube 8 and I cannot find anything to match. I have always stayed with the tip the same as runners but it doesn't seem to be an option. Should I go with a 8 ring size for tip if not possible

I am an amatuer at best and didnt realize you could fix a broken graphite rod that is broken probably 14" down. How is this even possible without oversleving the broken area?

St. Croix is alot easier to deal with then loomis in my experiences. My dad recently broke a fifteen year old legend and the rep at the local store exchanged it for a new legend inshore with ti kigans for nothing with no questions. I had a bad experience with Loomis during a hurricane evacuation some years back where I had to put rods in my maverick gunnel rod holders. After being gone for two da

Sorry forgot to mention that I broke it, figured that was a given. I was simply hoping someone has had a similar experience with loomis, whether a recent glx blank warranty or a modified rod warranty. I know its not standard practice to strip factory rods and repurpose, but hoped at worst case senario to get a close as possible blank warranty to salvage something. I tried to confirm this prior to

I did try that earlier but couldn't get any particulars out of them and was only told that it needed to be sent in and evaluated. If I was in a better spot financially it wouldn't be a big deal, but I just lost my job and fear sending a rod in I wont be able to afford. I was just hoping to get some kind of a number to know whether I can afford to send it in or have to wait.

A few years back I converted a glx jig casting rod that was 7'5" 17-25lb into a spinning rod. I tried to call loomis and buy just the blank at any cost, but they would not sell it to me. In the conversation I asked if I were to convert and make a spinning rod would it be covered under warranty. Customer service told me that I would have to expedite it, but yes for the advanced no question as

Id be interested in how you plan on extending. There is a St Croix musky rod out there I really like the blank on but it is 8'6 and I want atleast 9'. If the only proper way is to oversleeve and being that I want a split grip, it would put the transition in the exposed area of the grip. If I undersleeve I could make it work but Im not really keen on sacrificing integrity if that be the case. My w

Correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the assumption the guides I were referring to are a solid titanium frame not coated. Thought there were two options like fuji, either solid ti or ti coated steel. I am still debating the zirconia rings vs SIC, in which I assumed SIC is superior, but believe I saw test data saying Zirconia is harder and slicker. Idk, I always was told that gold cermets wer

Thanks for your prompt reply Alex. I will definitely have to try an xla hookeeper being that I just lost a snook last week due to a entaglement while freelining with a snake guide used as a keeper on an old rod. I am looking forward to what you have coming in the future.

What do you guys think about these compared to fuji? Hopefully a little more economical. I havent had a problem yet with the fuji k series SiC rings failing, but my rods are pretty new. Has the redesigned frame corrected this problem. Reason being, I have had three inserts pop out on my tsvsg in the past. Never had a problem with steel frames, just the ti.

Thanks Johnny. I just happened to stumble across these two blank recommendations looking at the striper forums. I have only faguely heard of cts and century before, so if there is anyone out there using the above mentioned blanks for snook bucktail please let me know your thoughts. I didnt see any local dealers so will prob just have to go in blind, but they seem to be up my alley. I wish mudhole

Thanks for the options. I have looked into most of the mentioned prior to posting with the exception of the seeker rod, and will have to ask around about that, since I have only seen heavy duty offshore rods made with their blanks. North Fork are great blanks, but wish they made a one piece hm rod for my taste. The rainshadows are a little heavy, another wish list would be RX8 surf rod but I und

Thanks for your help in advance.
I do about 99% of my fishing at Sebastian Inlet for snook, using 30lb PowerPro Slick 8, throwing 1-3oz jigs or Windcheaters. I wanna treat myself to a new jig rod for Christmas, but am can't decide on the perfect blank. The first priority is weight, I will be casting for long periods so id like to be under 6oz blank weight, but still have enough backbone to sto
