I built one using their blue split grip on a saltwater "wading" rod and the color faded in less than a summer of use in Texas. Particules of the blue foam was easily rubbed off with a finger. Don't know if that is the norm haven't built one with them since.

Bubbles killed my last crosswrap experience, I've learned the importance of CP the hard way.

Couple days ago I asked for advice regarding crosswraps, which was successful due to the help I received on here.......So I go to throw down some epoxy and all is well, with the exception of the "bubbles" throughout the crosswrap section. So I did what I normally would do and hit it with couple shots of the alcohol burner. Most started to dissipate. Tried to remove the rest to no avail.

I used A thread on this wrap and I doubled the trim wraps at the end of the crosswrap as there were a bunch of cut threads that I couldn't hide under a single layer trim wrap. I did not think about cutting in small increments while wrapping the trim portion, which may help eliminating the bulky look. I appreciate y'all's help. Thank you. FYI, the rod is a 6'6 ML action

Built my father-in-law a rod, which he requested a crosswrap. I've never done one, but it came out pretty nice as I'm still a newbie. Trouble I'm having is securing both ends of this crosswrap. I had to double the thread to "hide" some of the frays which were cut, but it just made the ends bulky. Any suggestions on how I can or could minimize the bulky look and have a nice transition?

I've recently sponsored a family member into a large fishing tournament showcasing my rods/clothing, his team finishing in top 3 has helped tremendously with folks inquiring the product. My next move is charity events, which was suggested.

Question for you guys that have chosen to create a custom rod building business.
What has been your best method of getting your company noticed when you first began your endeavor....ie word of mouth, advertisements, fishing/rod building shows, shirts, stickers? Just trying to remain a local builder.

13. How much CP
How many coats of color preserver is needed for the best results? (Size A)
Also - how much time do you allow before applying finish?

Steve,
That may have been my problem - taking too long to apply, as I ended up having to make a fresh batch near the end to finish the rod due to the first mix hardening up on me, but like I mentioned, I have eight wraps/guides coated and only four of them ended up that way. It appeared that the wraps with the most finish applied (ended up being football shaped) wasn't effected. For a future r

The finish was solid as a rock, that's the reason I didnt understand. All threading was sealed as well. It wasn't until the area around the guides got a little wet (just from reeling in line), when I started observing these small little finish "strips" were starting to rise. And as I attempted to clear the strips off, u could basically peel portions of the flex coat off.

Bill,
Coats were applied to the ends of each thread as well as all tunnels. I'll take the advice of switching out to nylon, although that metallic sure was purty..... Thanks fellas.

Hey folks,
Want to start by saying, I appreciate the folks who educate the uneducated on these forums like myself. I've had no prob gettin started by just navigating through the site.
Anywho... I recently finished my first rod using metallic thread wraps, FlexCoat HighBuild with no CP. I applied one coat of this finish. I let cure for approx. a week or so. Well, I went and "field"
