Thanks guys. Yes, as Chris stated, I was looking for a protective finish after coating the wraps and did not want to do a clear coat on the blank. Thanks again guys. I will try the "wax" after the thread coating cures.

Chris, thank you. Pledge was one of my thoughts too. Tom, I understand the contamination issue which is why I mentioned doing the wraps and coating before trying a polish. Maybe I was not clear about that. Thanks again. Roger, thanks for your rubbing compound idea. You are sure that this will not cause contamination issues if done before wrapping and coating? Phil, thanks for the rep

The blank I built (2) big, swimbait rods out of was the StCroix SCII 8' XHeavy Fast. I don't know if that blank is still available bit it handles Huddleston's and 7' Ospreys perfectly. The Mfr used it to bud their TideWater Salmon style rod. Hope this helps.

I prefer a 10 inch rear grip on all 7' + casting rods. I Just built an MHX HM-MB874 and the 10 inch is perfect (for me). I used the Winn 3 1/2 inch rear and 2 1/2 inch Butt. Very nice

Hey everyone. I have some of the older, original GLoomis IM6 models of rods. These rod blanks have a Burgundy "paint" and a clear coat over it. Mine have become so chipped and flaking that I have removed all the coatings (and guides to replace with nicer / modern guides). It was very easy to do with just my fingernail. It is now down to the naked graphite blank. I would prefer to n

Thank you all for your input. My (2) teenage boys are really getting serious about their bass fishing and it seems like every time I take them out, they both want to throw all the things I throw so my rod arsenal seems to be shrinking LOL. I need to get them hooked up with some nice rods that will not break the bank. Plus I want them to be nice enough to use myself in tournaments if I need an a

Hi guys. I hope I'm not stiring up an old thread. I did plenty of searches and nothing came up for the MHX blanks thru Mud Hole. I'm just trying to get some comparisons on these blanks (just the High Modulus blanks). I am very familiar with and have built most of my rods on StCroix and G.Loomis blanks. If you are familiar with these 2 brands, how/what would you compare the HM-MHX blanks to

Bob, how can I get hold of Todd (email?) That blank (GLB93 1MH) is still not the correct blank. That blank is 7'9" not 8' its 15-40 not 15-30 and the lure weight on that blank is 2-8 not 3/4-3 1/2. These are the #s I got from the Factory rod on the Lami site. Thanks Brent

Bob, thanks for the quick reply. What series of blanks are these? The only IMC807 I could find on the Lamiglas site is a 6.8 casting rod. Is this blank not on their site yet? Is it the IM700 series? Brent

Hello all. I have done a search for this info but come up empty handed. I am looking for some sort of conversion chart for the color numbers for Sulky to Maderia or vise versa. I thought I saw someone post it here about a year or so ago but I cant find it. Thanks for your help. Brent Schneider

Hey fellas. I hope someone can help me out with this. I am at work in the office and I am going to make a supply order. My buddy just called me and needs me to order a guide for replacement. The factory rod is a GLoomis 844c GL3. The guide is the third down from the tip. Can someone tell me what size guide this is? I could check at home but I would really like to place this order today.

I also have always had very good service w/ Anglers Workshop. The last order I placed my blank was on back order. It came in the next day and I got it 1 day after the rest of my stuff. If anything was ever sent out wrong or broken/bent whatever, Rick had done a great job of helping me out. Brent

The suggestions above are very good ones. What I might add is that the lures you mention are pretty small and light especially the shad raps unless the are the very large ones. Most smallie crankbaits are on the medium to small side. I would definetly go with the Med. action over the MH. I got a few of the discontinued St Croix SC1 blanks from Richards Rods a while back. I Spiral wrapped th

I found lots of suggestions for what might look good but what i really need is the the factory colors. The GLX looks like Black / No CP. The IMX looks like Charcoal or Grey / No CP. Thanks for your replys Brent
