This is how I hold guides to small diameter rods. The rod measured .035" at the guide. It's a slice of fuel line they use for R/C cars and helicopters. Costs about $1.50 a foot and get hundreds of them. After I start the wrap I just cut it off.

Just an idea. For the intake side (door) I recommend a paper furnace filter to filter the air coming in to keep dust down. Kind of like a paint booth for automotive. Just a thought.

I build for myself and friends so I am not buying bulk. When I order I make sure to get extras. A different color thread, a new burnisher, cup. Whatever. Yeah I have more stuff than I need but it spreads the cost of shipping. Its an unnecessary evil to be able to make a "custom" rod. If that wasn't an issue I would buy off the shelf. Needless to say I make nothing for a rod. So passing

Thats why you should think about filling the donor portion on the back of your licence. It is a gift you can give as 1 last statement of who you are. Congratulations on your new vision. Would love to see your first build.

I have used Glow inc powders for ice jigs and find this to last longer thank other powders or powder paints. I also use a black light to charge the lures as it lasts longer. Another thing about the black light. Have you thought about painting the tip fluorescent and using a black light to make it glow. Keeps the light down for fishing. I do this for bobber fishing spring crappie makes the bobber

Thorne Bros offer a 28" blank in their hardwater series. I have used these in the past and its a nice blank. I am also waiting on Mudhole to try theirs. Just thought I would pass this along. I like this blank for different reasons. Light bite mid season perch. mid day panfish. etc.

Is it possible the paint froze? I use Krylon on my ice rods all the time with no problems. I did have 1 rod with similar charactoristics. I found out from Krylon that it must have frozen during shipment or storage. I sanded it back down with 600 grit wet/dry and repainted. I flash mine coat all in the same day to melt layers of paint together. Then use clear over the whole thing. I don't use PG b

Yeah Thats what I was thinking but worth checking out. They say longer casts and more accuracy out of the microwaves, so I thought I would ask. Thanks for the help,

I have been toying with the idea of making an ul less than 5' long. I mainly want the guides for accuracy as I will be using it to cast in brush in a creek for springtime crappie. Anyone with experience with the microwave think its that big of an accuracy or am I over thinking this. Casting distance is short.

In life, in general when something doesn't go right the world is the first to know. I just wanted the world to know when it did go right. I have found in my short time as a rod builder this usually isn't true. Don't hear alot of negative feedback on suppliers. That is probably the very few industries that that hapens with. 9.9 times out of 10 the suppliers are straight up good and want to do righ

Krylon paint holds up well. Scuff with scotch bright, Prime in white and then paint pink. One of my first rods was like this for my daughter. Still holding up nice even after banging on the car, rocks, trash cans and whatever she is next to,lol.

I recently made an order for lathe parts through Get Bit Outdoors. I have to say the customer service Kevin gave was excellent. He did not have all the things I needed in stock, which is understandable but called me right away and told me. We made other arrangements and the order shipped that day. I just wanted to say Thank You for the service and to let people know about your service. I definate

Do you have guide placement charts available for the 4'6" model. Would like to make a rod for crappie fishing spring crappie in a creek. Tight and accurate bobber casting. Think this rod would be great with microwave gudes.

I just posted on the photo page a couple pictures of micro guide holders for small diameter blanks. I use fuel line for R/C cars and heli's and slice them about a 1/16" long or so. Slide them on and attach guide under. After I start the wrap I simply cut it off. The cost is about $1.50 a foot and I get hundreds of them. I don't know how to share the link or I would. I am computer challenged,

Does burnishing help this? I burnish my wraps and sometimes I get bleed through even with color preserver. I will have to pay better attention to my wraps. Time for stronger glasses, lol.

That's a learning curve you will overcome quickly. I am a hobby builder but I have extras that I will use. Every order has a new color thread. Just think with the extra parts, you will have to build more rods. Can never have enough rods.

Has plant of hook set in reserve. I have caught northern up to 39". Its a very fast rod. All backbone from 5" back. Can see mid season light bites without a scoring bobber. I was getting ready for this season and was looking to order more. Basically the same blank as the noodle.

I build ice rids and do this a lot. I use my left hand to support rod a right for guiding wrap. Go slow. This is where a good tensioner pays for itself.

ok with the Alp's upgrade, what comes with it? Does the pulley for the dryer come with it? and if not is it available? With some bribery I could have my neighbor make me one. I would have to do the math to get turning speeds set. Which is no problem but much easier to buy one. I can't find what comes with it. Thank you.

Thorne brothers also offers a blank in thier hardwater series that is like the noodle. Has about 3 inches of soft tip before getting backbone. You can also take a solid blank and sand it down to your liking. Static test it as you sand. I sand alot of rods to get exactly what I am looking for. I drive momma crazy building rods for myself. I usually build about 10 rods a year for me and another 10-
