I'm wondering if I can epoxy in about 12" of a similar sized blank to accommodate the rear grip and place the seat and fore grip on the blank itself. This would just be for the kids use in the neighborhood retention pond. Or, I could just make a VERY stout, very short rod.

Hello, I recently came across two of these blanks and can't seem to find any info on them. They're yellowish-gold in color and about 54" long. Can take pics and measurements if that would be more helpful.... thanks!

Hello: I'm trying to create wraps in "Kawasaki" green and can't find any thread that comes close. If I can find some Testors paint, can I just paint over white thread wraps, add a coat of CP, and then apply the epoxy? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Gentlemen: Am kind of new at rod building and came across a blank that hasn't been plugged. Am curious as to whether or not the really makes a difference. I've read a few former posts on how to plug but not much regarding the importance of doing it. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello! Am looking for this size/weight blank and am not having any luck... the back story is, I made up a rod for my brother on an IM-6 blank and he broke the butt end so I'm looking to build up a whole new rod. Thanks!

Another question, Randolph... how would a 9-10' steelhead blank differ from a 7, 8, or 9wt fly rod of the same length? The reason I ask is that I've got a 9.5' 9wt fly rod that I don't use and am thinking I could replace the seat/grips and maybe reposition the guides of necessary. Thanks!

Hey Guys... Am thinking of building up a rig for smallies here in Indiana and want your opinions on blanks, please. This could also double as a steelhead rig I suppose as we get a nice run up north in the Fall. Thanks,

Thanks all for the great information. I ran out and picked up some DNA and it did the trick! I'll experiment with heat on an older blank that I use for practice!

Thank you in advance for your help... In mounting the reel seat on a new build, I accidentally got a few resin finger prints/smudges on the blank and am not sure what to use to safely remove them. My first thought was a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol but thought I'd solicit the advice of the experts before I tried anything. I'm using U-40 rod bond and the blank is a JMX 9' 5wt from Netcraft. S

Thanks all... I like the NO CP option! I'll be a bit more cautious moving forward and see how my results change.

Hey guys... am still somewhat of a newbie so I imagine it's operator error. That said, after I apply 2 to 3 coats of CP and then a thin coat of epoxy, I'm getting a silver-ish color randomly on my wraps? Any suggestions or advice? Thanks in advance.

Thank you! I want to "practice" on this rod as it was fairly inexpensive to acquire. Any suggestions on a new cane blank maker for a net new build?

I recently acquired a couple old Montague rods in fairly bad disrepair. Am wondering how to best remove the grips and reel seats so I can start from scratch on refinishing the blanks Thank you,

Hello... am finishing up a custom build for my brother and am interested in placing a decal over a solid color wrap. Should I put a light coat of epoxy first and then apply the decal followed by another coat of epoxy? Am new at this and appreciate any and all suggestions. Thanks in advance.
