I turned the butt cap, trim parts, seat insert and winding check from Hard Northern Maple and the grips from EVA foam. The rod is a University of Colorado theme as a gift to someones dad who played football there in the 60's.

Finally completed the fighting butt for this ADG 8/9 wt, fly rod. Olivewood, with stabilized box elder burl dyed green on either end of all three pieces.

11. Random Abstract
Turned my first Random Abstract using Billy Vivona's article and the Acrylic trim pieces on the reel seat and the winding check were turned by Ed Karwacki. Put orange Abalone and a simple stripe wrap over it to tie in with the colors in the grip.

13. turned fly grip
Turned this Olive Wood (natural) with Grn. Stabilized Box Elder Burl on either end, same for reel seat. Had to leave for work and will turn the fighting butt when I get home. A 8/9 wt. fly rod.

While you guys are on this topic I would not mind some input on anything I should know that may be different in building a rod for Kayak fishing. The reason I'm asking is I will be building two heavy baitcasters to be donated to Heros on the Water for a tournoment in Oct. here in Washington. So any input as to considerations would be nice.

I have turned the handle parts and am ready for glue up. I have only recently started using this product. On my last handle I applied the permagloss and when glueing the handle it dulled up the finish where ever the epoxy touched the permagloss. I had let the handle set over night after application of the permagloss. I am wondering if I did not let it cure long enough or if this is just a don

I'm finishing a wood handle, It sounds like the problem is with me. I will mess with it on a scrap of wood, I also read Tom's artical so I should be OK.

Just a quick question about this, I don't like the outcome of using ht sponge brush applying this and an alterative is cheese cloth, which I have not found where I am. I figue any cloth that is not corse or will leave fuss shold work to put on a couple of coats. does this sound accurate?
