When wrapping thread on a guide foot, whats the best way to wrap the thread . Do you start on the rod and warp onto the foot or the reverse?

Thanks for your reply. They were not there before I started stripping so I assumed I did something wrong. They are only maybe a quarter to half an inch long. This is normal?

I am refinishing an old bamboo rod and have begun striping the old finish off using citrisstrip gel. I've noticed that some spots are lighter than others. I am assuming it's due to uneven coating of the gel. How can I fix this?
