Tom I looked at the site but the Winston is not on there. I did see where my Dancraft sigV was not really a 5, but more of a six according to the numbers. I loaded it with 6wt line I can tell a big diff loading the rod.

Hello everybody I was wondering if you could help me out. I cast a Winston IIX last week and I fell in love with it. All my 3wt and up rods (Dancraft) are much faster then the IIX and I want to build a slower 5 wt to fish with for awhile. My question is this. The place I shop does not carry Winston but they do carry Sage. Is there a blank comparable to the IIX in the Sage line? My first thought w

I have the 7 and 10 wt FT, I also have a 5wt and the famous 8'4" 4 wt in a Sig V. I love em all but the 8'4 is da bomb! I use my FT's for shooting heads which I fish very often. If I was looking for a rod to mostly cast floating lines I would buy the Sig V every time.

Actually I don’t notice it until I put it on the wraps. I mentioned that I flamed the wraps with a bic prior to applying finish so maybe that is where it is coming from. The finish looks fine when it’s on the foil the best I can remember. I will be sure to mix the required amount of time next time and leave out the Bic lighter. I’ll post the results I usually only use a flame to burn an

The last few rods I have done have had a smoky film in the finish. I notice it while I am applying it so it isn’t coming from a lighter. I use new aluminum foil to mix the finish and a new popsicle stick to mix it. The popsicle stick is the only new thing I am doing so I think it might be the cause. I don’t use CP. Ever seen this? As I am typing it occurred to me that I used a bic lighter

Just looked at a Temple Fork Pro series factory built rod today. First thing I noticed is the lack of thread wraps around any of the female ferrules. There was a coat of finish but no thread anywhere. Is this right? I checked several others in the same series and they didn't have thread on the ferrules either. Looks like a broken rod waiting to happen to me!

These are truly decent rods for fish in the 10 to 50 pound range. How do they do it for so cheap? I can’t even come close to buying the material to build this rod for under $20. Heck you even get a free hat with this deal.

What is the best way to glue EVA foam sheets or grips together? I had fair results with spray adhesive but there has to be a better way

I already have a Sig V 9' 5 wt FT 9' 10 wt and just bought an FT 7 wt. I need a light rod. Thanks for the input however. That 8'4 Sig V must be the best rod on the planet because everybody who owns one raves on and on about it. Hmmmm,,,, Honey, I need another fly (((kang))) skillet to the head... Thanks Bob that helps. I am leaning towards the Sig III. Any more input anybody? Postman lef

Thanks for the reply Bob. Do you think the FT has too much power? Does it lose the "light rod feel" when fighting a fish? Where is most of the bend at on this rod? Does it all flex on a decent fish? Sorry for all the questions but I have no way to hold it and feel it without buying It first.

Need a little help making a decision. I am using a Cabelas blank PT series (progressive taper) 9’ 3 wt. I love fishing this rod for shallow water midge fishing and swinging wets. I think the extra length helps me cast to fish further away without spooking them. I built this rod as one of my first and it has done a great job for me thus far however I think I can build a lighter better rod now.
