Who has built a Batson Eternity2 9' 6wt, or even a 7wt or 5 wt.
I am looking for a great line match. Rio Tech Trout is good for dries, but not so great for other applications. I did not like SA MPX. An older SA Textured Trout is OK. Rio Avid Trout OK. Anyone have a line they love on Eternity2? Re: Eternity2 9' 6wt fly rod line recommendation

Have you CCS measured the rod? All the Eternities I've built are a little above the nominal line weight designation. I've only built Eternities 8 and above. I use an Orvis Bonefish line on my 8, but it's for salt/warm water. It's a nice line for it's intended use, but tends to coil some in cooler MI when I'm practicing. For 6’s and under, I just go with a DT line anymore. Longer leader for dries.
The line specialization has gone nuts and with the prices it is tough to experiment. If you have a good shop that will let you test cast lines, go for it. I use SA frequency or 406 fly lines. Re: Eternity2 9' 6wt fly rod line recommendation

I kind of miss Phil E. when I see threads like this. Re: Eternity2 9' 6wt fly rod line recommendation

If you want a non specialized line that helps you cast well and far, when necessary, try a Royal Wulff Triangle Taper, it does have a downside however, due to the design of a long continuous taper, it is very light in the first 10-15 ft., the lightest out there that I have experienced, this decreases its efficiency when fishing in real close like pocket waters. Need to rollcast well? This is the line for you. Re: Eternity2 9' 6wt fly rod line recommendation

I did not perform CCS but, to your point, the E2s reputation is to like an above normal line weight, which is why I tried a several year old Rio Avid Trout, which I think comes in at 1/2 to a full line size heavy. It's OK.. Now they have Avid Trout Gold and Grand, based on those tapers. I even asked Batson and they said go over standard with E2. I'm wrapping up an Epic 690G blank so it will be interesting to compare it to the E2. I have high hopes for the Epic, as it only gets rave reviews. Re: Eternity2 9' 6wt fly rod line recommendation

I fish build and fish Eterenty 2's and prefer Rio gold or grand depending upon casting distance needed. The Grand for longer casts. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
