Hey all,

I have a new SJ 736 blank, anyone have suggestions on guide spacing? I did a search and didn't find anything.

Thanks,

Jeremy

I use a KR concept when using 10 to 30 lb test braid with a 2500, 3000 or 4000 size reel. For the reduction train a KL20H, KL10H, and KL5.5M will work great with these reel sizes. The reduction guides will be followed by KB/KT runners in the size of your choosing, I normally use size 4.5 or 5 runners, and use 1 or 2 KB guides after the reduction train with the remaining runners being KT guides. For your rod I would use 9 or 10 guides total, not counting tip top. The butt guide (KL20H) will be placed approximately 20” in front of the reel spool and the choke guide (first KB runner) will be placed about 22” to 23” in front of the butt guide. The two remaining reduction guides are placed progressively between the butt guide and the choke guide, and the remaining running guides spaced progressively between the choke and the tip top. I normally place the last runner about 9-10 cm from the tip top. Do a static test to fine tune your spacing, and then test cast. You can certainly move the choke and/or butt guide in or out a little to get a nice progressively spaced guide train
The Fuji KR GPS at Anglers Resource gives a very good starting for laying out your guide train. I normally use at least one more runner than recommended by the KR GPS.
